Oil in EGR intake port on the Head, problem?
Oil in EGR intake port on the Head, problem?
Found this when taking off my water outlet. I'm not finding any oil in the intake ports, they are pretty dry. My car didn't have a EGR but the new engine I put in did. I took it off and replaced the water outlet with one without the EGR. Never had oil in this port on my old engine. Never had a EGR so not sure if it's supposed to have oil there. Though based on my limited understanding of them it doesn't seem like there should be. Just wondering if this is a problem or not.
Re: Oil in EGR intake port on the Head, problem?
Could give the PCV valve a look. If it were a piston wouldnt I be getting smoke or oil in other spots though? The exhaust and intake ports are both dry and clean. It's just that one port on the water outlet that has oil.
Re: Oil in EGR intake port on the Head, problem?
So, I have discovered that port only goes to the EGR ducts on the intake manifold. So the only place oil can come from is the VTech solenoid. Solved my own problem it seems. Well, one of them anyway...
