Wire harness and ecu question

I have a question I just swapped a d17 1.7L vtec motor on a 2001 Honda Civic EX. The motor i swapped it with is the non vtec version. My question is can I still use the same harness from the 01 vtec civic or do I have to change both the wiring harness and computer

Re: Wire harness and ecu question

You will get a fault code for VTEC solenoid since it won't exist. I believe this also would put the engine into limp mode (~4k RPM rev limit). The solenoid connector also won't have anything to plug into on the engine but that won't cause any issues.
