how to reenable vtec w/ lx engine harness (full ex setup)
how to reenable vtec w/ lx engine harness (full ex setup)
alright well i changed out my engine harness because someone decided to be an *** and cut some through some of my engine harness. i had a lx engine harness laying around and i installed it.
a few plugs are not being used (none of the left over ones had anywhere to plug into?). everything works fine but of course there is no vtec wires on the lx engine harness.
how would i go into rewiring vtec to my ecu? the vtec solenoid wire and the vtec pressure switch under the solenoid are unplugged so my car is running in safe mode. can i use my emanage to set-up vtec or should i just rewire it to let the stock ecu handle it? i tried looking for the ecu pinouts but i couldnt find em. any help is appreciated.. thanks!

Re: how to reenable vtec w/ lx engine harness (full ex setup)
you should be able to use the stock EX ECU and just run the wires. ill look on ISIS and get you the ecu pins.
please post the year and 2dr or 4dr please

Re: how to reenable vtec w/ lx engine harness (full ex setup)
here are the ecu diagrams... id wire straight to the ecu

sick. thanks both of you.. how would i go into wiring it straight into the ecu if there is no vtec wires there? i would just plug in the wires into the big connectors that plug into the ecu?
repped both of you! rep me back please!

Re: how to reenable vtec w/ lx engine harness (full ex setup)
i have a 1993 dx that i am installing a d16z6 vtec and a p28 in i know where the 2 wires i need to run are i just have no clue where on the ecu i need to put them. does anyone know where on the ecu they should be run to.. please help
Re: how to reenable vtec w/ lx engine harness (full ex setup)
if you need ecu pins we might be able to get them to you. what city and state do you live in? i have many laying around i think. sorry it to me so long to reply comp down.

first heres the scamatic for vtec with an ex ecu. you can see that a single wire(blue) runs from the vtec sole valve to ecu pin 15 on connector B. then at conector B pin number 9 a blu/black stripe wire runs back out into the engine bay to the vtec oil pressure switch pin 1. then a brw/yellow stripe runs from pin two on that connector to ground. this should be very simple to wire on your own.

here is the IDentification for the connectors on the EX ecu. this is how you kno which connector is connector B
ISIS ECU connector ID.pdf
here is where the wire pin cavity is on the actual connector at the ECU. this is connector B you are looking at. remember the diag shows it from the side that the wires enter on on the ecu connector.
ISIS Vtec connector B pins 9 and 15.pdf
this is the sole connector veiw so you kno where the wire goes
ISIS vtec connector veiw for vtec sole valve.pdf
this is the pressure switchconnector veiw so you kno what pins go where. again this is the back side of the connector where the wires enter.

here we have the pressure switch location for those who are reading this

you should be able to use the connectors from the EX harness you have for the oil pressure switch and the vtec solenoid. run the wires to the ecu through the firewall. connect them to the ECU. you should be able to use the pins from the old EX harness as well to make your connections the the ECU. dont just yank the pins out tho. if you need help de-pinning connectors let me kno. ill make a video or something. they have release tabs on them so you shound have to fight anything. let me kno if you need anymore Info and let us kno how it turns out!
The dude doing the d16z6 wap, gimme time to research your issue

this is for a d17a2 headswap correct? i am currently in the process of doing one right now and trying not to buy an ex harness. have you tried this? did it work? and pretty much all you have to do is run wires to connector "B" right?( from the vtec solenoid)
Re: how to reenable vtec w/ lx engine harness (full ex setup)
yeah this is for a A2 head. I have not tried this but it IS a very simple circuit. Im confident that it will work bc i work on these cars daily and its pretty strait foward. and it is as simple as running wires to connector B.
Re: how to reenable vtec w/ lx engine harness (full ex setup)
and when i run the wires through the firewall where do i put them through? ive looked on my car but cant see very well with all that **** thats in front of the firewall...
Re: how to reenable vtec w/ lx engine harness (full ex setup)
i usually use the hole right under the condensor on the passenger side. there should be enough room seeing how i have a 2 gauge wire and misc other wires running through there. pull back the carpet at the left side of the passenger floor right near the console. youll see it there.
