d17a1 vtec d17a2
I use a d17a1 short block on 2005 honda civic ex special edition, I used the head off the vtec d17a2 .The car runs fine but I keep getting error code honda error code po340 . My question is the cam gear have the same amount of teeth ? I have counted them and I keep come up with one more tooth. Any input would be helpful.
Re: d17a1 vtec d17a2
I'm pretty sure the tooth count is the same.
That code's for a CPS failure, and I'm almost certain that engages limp mode. I don't think that's the code that comes up when timing is off.
When I did the timing belt on my '01, I didn't have the sensor pushed in all the way so the code stayed on. It could be as simple as that.

Assuming you have all the appropriate wiring and ECU for the D17A2 (since that's the engine that came in an EX), you should be fine. It's a pretty well-documented swap, so it wouldn't hurt to verify that you took the same steps as what was taken in other threads.
