Engine leak I cant figure out
Engine leak I cant figure out
Bottom of the oil pan literally dripping with oil
Ok so I have an oil leak I cant figure out and I was seeing if anyone could help. So far ive replaced end camshaft seal, valve cover gasket, and oil pan gasket but the leak persists and I believe it is getting worse. No oil is leaking on the floor yet but it is getting all over my lower control arm and exhaust which is causing a burning smell. If anyone has any suggestions any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Engine leak I cant figure out
clean up as much oil as you possibly can, preferably with some sort of degreaser (409 or simple green works fantastically). Make sure you take a look at potential sources for oil leaks on the top end of the engine too (e.g. valve cover gasket). Run the car for 5-10 minutes. You can, by all means, let it idle and see if you notice oil on a freshly cleaned/degreased surface. It'll be a whole hell of a lot cheaper than firing the parts canon at the problem.

Ok have some break cleaner, towels and a pressure washer in the garage. Will clean everything as best as possible first thing in the morning and try and find a more specific source of the leak then post pictures. Thank you

Check both inner and out CV axle boots for tears on booth passenger and driver side. When an axle boot splits during driving the rotational force splatters the boot grease all over the bottom of the engine, steering and suspension components.
Personally, I would avoid pressure washing an engine, and especially when engine is at operating temp. Sensors can get wet if not covered, alternator needs to be covered, etc..
A good degreaser (as mentioned before) and disposable towels working from top to bottom of engine. I usually use Gunk brand engine degreaser spray with a couple large pieces of cardboard under engine to catch runoff. Cold engine, spray on and let it sit for 10 minutes, wipe off with disposable towel/rag.
You may want to avoid brake cleaner spray to clean engine as it could potentially dry out rubber hoses.
Other than that it could be rear main seal leak, valve cover leak, Vtec solenoid leak (if car is an EX or SI model), cam end cap leak, crank seal leak. Most likely of those is rear main seal based on your description.
