What is this?

What is that part circled? Purchased a wire harness that is supposed to be 01-05 manual but it is missing that plug.

Re: What is this?

That’s for your EGR system.

Not common in 01-02 cars, but pretty common in 03-05.

Your ECU will quickly notice if that is not working as expected.

Re: What is this?

You can remove it and buy a blocking plate, but the CEL will always be on. Not really a problem unless you need to pass an inspection.

It doesnt need to. Can I leave it unplugged until I get a block plate or a thermostat housing without an egr?

yes. It is a exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve. It controls exhaust gases going to your intake. This valve is not required for your car to operate. The entire system is there to help burn hydrocarbons present in your exhaust gases. You may experience lower gas mileage. But yes, you can drive around with it unplugged. Your check engine light will come on. They are not that expensive. By the way if you do try to remove it from the car you may have trouble with the front bolt that holds it in place. It gets stuck in their really good. Go ahead and unplug it and drive down your neighborhood road for a bit to check it out. Good luck.

The seller is checking to see if he has the correct harness. If I have to use the non egr harness I will replace the whole housing with the non egr 1. Was just checking if that was even an option.
