Honda Civic 2005 lx

Hey guys! I have Honda Civic 2005 lx four cylinder... I had the engine light one on this car for few months. The CEL code is p0135 which is bank 1 sensor 1 o2 sensor!

so I’ve replaced it, with a brand new one from Honda! And now my car is acting up, it has no power, it wants to die, and it shakes and chock to dead!

but as soon as I put the old o2 sensor on it, it works fine! But again I’ll get that CEL..

im thinking my cat is clot up, I feel like the car is dying due to it can’t breath.

any help ? Please ... or anyone had a similar problem would help a lot!

thank you guys !

With the new O2 sensor did you see any fault codes? Do the part numbers on the new and old sensor match?

I haven’t seen any code due to car just want tor die. So with a new o2 sensor on I can’t drive the car Bc it wants to die. And yes the part number matches .

Re: Honda Civic 2005 lx

I have an 05 LX. Never replaced sensor 1. I did replace sensor 2 a few years ago with no troubles. In your case the only thing that makes sense is that the new sensor is no good. Assuming Honda gave you an actual Honda part (which I am sure they did). Still a new but not working new sensor should not result in the poor performance you describe. If the cat was severely clogged it would affect your power and performance regardless of which sensor you have in there, old or new I would think.

Should I try to reset the EUC? Would that help?

Re: Honda Civic 2005 lx

if it is my car I wouldn't. I do not know if resetting the computer will help. What you do know is that It runs OK with the old sensor in there. I would leave the old one in there, use the car. And in the meantime do more research. Sounds like a piece of the puzzle is missing.

Re: Honda Civic 2005 lx

Did they give you a sensor for an 01-03 Civic maybe? They are different. Ones wide band the other narrow if I remember correctly!?!

Double check from another source on the part number. If the cat was clogged it would run like crap no matter what sensor was in there.

Re: Honda Civic 2005 lx

Your 2005 LX takes an air fuel ratio sensor in Bank 1 and not an O2 sensor. Should be around $250 at Honda. See part #7 in this diagram: https://parts.sonshonda.com/showAsse...rimLevel=24896
