Rebuild?

Anybody got good guesses on how much a d17a2 rebuild would possibly cost?

Re: Rebuild?

Depends on a lot of stuff

why you say it needs a rebuild,
what happened to the engine, exactly
what all you plan to have done to it
who is doing all parts of the work

vs

how much is a used engine

It doesn't need a rebuild but just wanting to have some ideas on what it might cost with stock parts and I was jw what it might cost me and I dont want to put another engine in it unless it's a k20

Re: Rebuild?

a used engine is like $150-200, plus another $400 for a new headgasket, timing belt, waterpump, tensioner, some seals, etc
Rebuild is probably at least $600 plus all the parts i mentioned

So what if I was to do a performance rebuild? What's a good website to look at Honda parts? I've been looking everywhere and can't really find a whole lot.

Re: Rebuild?

It's a d17 the only performance you're going to get out of it is by turboing it which is expensive

What do you expect that would entail?

Re: Rebuild?

If you want to upgrade internals

-camshaft $300 plus install, with IHE $400 plus install would be the cheapest option.

You'll need a lot more for a stroker kit or high compression piston build.
