Changed O2 sensor, car jerks while accelerating
Changed O2 sensor, car jerks while accelerating
So a few weeks ago I had to emissions test my '04 Civic Si-G.
It was coming down to the wire so I quickly ordered a cheap O2 sensor online ~$60 and threw it in so I could clear the code I was having. Everything was fine but since then I've had a slight hesitation/jerking while accelerating at low RPMs.
Could this be from using the el cheapo O2 sensor and it not giving the correct air/fuel mix? I haven't tried anything else yet aside from new spark plugs.
I also have a P0497 code showing as well but from what I understand that shouldn't matter.

Re: Changed O2 sensor, car jerks while accelerating
I would use an OEM Denso O2 sensor and not cheap ones.
What was the original code?
Test the EVAP system for the other P0497 code. I had a P1497 code and it was solved by replacing the By-Pass Shut Valve and the Canister on the bottom of the car - this is a common occurrence with these cars FYI.

You sure you're talking about the correct sensor? A Denso O2 sensor does not even cost $60; I got mine for much less than that.
You sure you're not referring to the AIR/FUEL sensor, upstream of the cat?

Thanks for the tip about the Denso sensors. I'm reading up on cheaping out and it's seeming more likely that I shouldn't have done that.
Sucks because the Denso is like $200 at least.

Correct is correct, price is no longer relevant other than being something to complain about. Denso #234-9017 is what I came up with for an 04 D17A2 engine. I'm seeing just under 100 USD on amazon for it.

I know this is an old thread and I've started a new one myself but did you end up buying the OEM air/fuel ratio sensor and did it fix your problem? Thank you
