'01 Civic EX engine oil leak

So I recently purchased an '01 Civic EX, and it's developed an oil leak. It appears to be coming from the top of the motor, and running down where the trans mates to engine. It's not coming from the valve cover. I can't quite detect where the source is, although it's in the area of the EGR valve. Is this a common problem on these cars? Anyone have any thoughts? Is there a quick & easy fix or DIY for whatever this may be? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hondas part number 12513-P72-003
Should be about $9 at a decent dealer.
If the engine has an EGR valve you might need to remove it to get the plug out.

Thanks fellas! I just came back from getting the cam plug cover & EGR Valve gasket at my local stealership. I'll have to wait until my next day off to make the fix.

Always appreciate your tips ezone (you helped me extensively with an electrical diagnosis last year). I noticed my cylinder head plug was also leaking. Just picked up the part for $9 at the dealer and will install later this week. I would replace it today, but can't get EGR bolts off without a universal socket adapter (which I don't have yet). Is the Hondabond or RTV black stuff required (does it hurt/help)? Parts guy said just put some oil on the O-ring.

that should be all that is nessessary/required,

although i dont think a very small dab of high temp silicone would do any harm

Re: '01 Civic EX engine oil leak

Finally did the minor repair, and I just oiled the O-ring on the cam plug, and installed it. Presto! Instant stop leak! If it fail in the near future, so be it. For $8 and about 10 min of your own labor, it's easy enough to do.
