P1362 TDC sensor no signal- problem solved!
Good afternoon Civic friends. I experienced a problem earlier this week and I'm posting the info to help others.
2001 LX 5MT
I was making my morning drive to work, in the usual heavy traffic. My engine lost power and the CEL illuminated. The engine didn't shut off, but sounded and felt rough and lacked power. I felt lucky that nobody drove into the back of me. I put my hazard lights on and was waving people to go around me.
A code check gave me: P1362 TDC sensor no signal. The TDC sensor signals the ECU when piston 1 is at TDC. The ECU uses that to time the electronic ignition. When the ECU doesn't get a signal everything is off and your engine runs in a protected mode (aka Limp mode).
I followed the repair manual (https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...e-updated.html) steps and checked the pins for battery voltage and 5v. With all readings correct, I replaced with a new TDC sensor (genuine Honda part).
The new sensor solved the problem and my engine is running smooth again.
NOTE: After my initial power loss, I shut the car off for a minute and upon restart it ran normally. I drove it the rest of the way to work. I drove almost all the way home that afternoon before it went back to protected mode. I limped home and there she remained until I had the new sensor installed.
Overall, replacing the TDC sensor is easy. Basic tools and experience are all that is needed. There are several write ups in the forum, read them and you'll have no trouble.
Since you'll be removing your cylinder head cover, this would be a great time to adjust your valve clearances and replace your cylinder head cover gasket. I did mine in November and that recent experience allowed me to replace the sensor in about 2hrs.
Before you remove the 10mm bolt that mounts the TDC sensor, place a rag under it to avoid dropping it in the lower timing cover.

Re: P1362 TDC sensor no signal- problem solved!
Hello sir. I have a Honda Civic Dimension 2001 with automatic transmission. My car isn't starting for a month now. When I scanned it, it was P1362 TDC Sensor - No Signal. I already changed the camshaft sensor but still all I get is cranking but not starting. I hope you can help. Thanks
Re: P1362 TDC sensor no signal- problem solved!
Not really sure though. But it has markers on it. Is it possible that there are other culprits with the code P1362 - TDC Sensor No Signal? Is it the Camshaft or Crankshaft by the way?
