Earlier this year I started to hear this buzzing noise when I turn the key to 'ignition'. It comes and go and it stopped for about 4 months or so and just last week it came back. It's gone for now...but what is that noise? Anyone know and how can I fix it?

I'm getting the same noise from my 05 Civic Coupe. Doesn't happen all the time but is annoying when it does.

And I haven't figured out what causes it either.

isnt that just the fuel pump working? it should only buzz for a few seconds.

Hmmm... I don't think it's the fuel pump... It is fairly loud and it seems to come from inside the dash and not from under the hood. I can't say for certain that PiinkSox has the same issue I have, but it does seem very similar.

I usually turn the key back when I hear it.. and it stops. When I turn the key forward again it's gone. Maybe I should try to see if I can keep the key forward when it buzzes and see what it does. If it's the fuel pump then it shouldn't last long and the car will start right? If it continues to buzz for a while then I assume it wouldn't be the fuel pump.

It's just really hard to remember to keep the key turned forward. When my car makes a sound like it's in pain, I try to take away the pain.

maybe the ignition relay is defaulting or staying stuck

my 01 ex does it also i found if i turn the key slowly it does it. fast it does not. it is the relay prolly dirty contacts.

yep my car does that too sometimes......took it to the dealer, they couldnt replicate it.....as usual........

its definately not the fuel pump....

yeah I get that sometimes sounds like a crenging noise like I turned the key the wrong way. It comes and goes every now and then.
