Brake light problem.
Brake light problem.
Hey everyone, hope you're all well, I have run into some random troubles with my 2005 Civic special edition... my rear brake lights will not turn off, when I have the headlight and tail light switch on while driving at night the brake lights are always at a constant bright red like I am always holding down the brake pedal, I have already replaced the brakelight switch, have checked the fuses which they are not blown, I have recently installed an aftermarket double din touch screen radio so I'm wondering if that's a cause or if there is short somewhere. Would anyone have any ideas?
thank you very much in advance.

Re: Brake light problem.
Don't hook up the illumination connection for the aftermarket audio unit. It has been known to cause electrical gremlins.
Are you missing the pad that the brake light switch hits when the brake pedal is in the resting position?

Re: Brake light problem.
Thanks for the information, I replaced the brake light switch under the pedal as well with the rubber boot. I have also read that aftermarket radios can cause some issues so I'm going to pull it out over the weekend and check the wiring.
