Good Evening all!

I've been trying to find something on google about this but cant seem to find quite what I'm looking for. I have an 02 ex coupe, and the trunk wouldn't latch when I bought the car. Zip tied it down and called it a day. Recently cut zip tie, flipped the striker upside down, and the latch works. (weird, I know) however. Now my dash light says the trunk is open when it's closed. And when I pop it open, it says its closed. Could this be a damaged trunk latch assembly due to previous owner trying to slam trunk shut?
