Yes 30 second auto lock is nice if you forget to lock your doors. No I'm not going to ask how to disable it.
Is it most likely an ECU update issue if it only locks itself when keys are in car or even in the ignition?
It almost never auto locks if I remove keys from car.
It wont let me lock driver door with manual or electric lock button if keys are in car and driver door is open.

I am quite pro at holding the interior door handle open while pressing the lock button.
Honda put some smart thinking into the door lock assembly to help prevent you from locking yourself out.

...why would you ever leave the keys in the car?
If you're doing it to heat the car in the winter, there are relatively cheap remote start kits you can buy; which don't allow someone to jack your ride.

Where I live theft is not a problem. And both of my main parking locations are covered by camera. I hate taking my keys out of my car. I'm a girl who hates purses; so I carry as little as possible.

You might as well disable the auto lock function if you're not using it.
It's easy enough to remove the door skin and unplug power to the power locks.
This means you'll have to lock manually and you cant use the interior multi door, auto lock button, on the drivers side door.
......
It might also be easy to locate the auto lock module and unplug it while keeping power locks, but I'm not sure. Perhaps ask ezone, a moderator on this forum, who specializes in OEM issues.

When dealing with electronics in general, if it can go wrong, it will if I'm involved. 3 weeks for a prescription to be sent electronically. 2 months for one to be faxed. I used to work in IT. Dont know why, computers are moody little bitches who dont like me lol. But it makes for fun times.

Oh and only time I've lost keys or purse, I've set them down in a store and had to backtrack. Several times. I should be a natural blonde, a bit like legally blonde.
