Unhappy Camber or alignment

Hey everyone,

I am still attempting to find a decent price to install my springs, but I was wondering if it is absolutley necessary for a camber kit. I have read if I get a good wheel alignment I should be able to get away without having to splurge for a camber kit.

Surely the camber kit is the safer way, but can anyone tell me about their experiences?

camber or alignment? it's pointless if you get a camber kit and then not get an alignment.

it really all depends on what kind of drop you're getting. wider tires do offset the negative camber abit too. Remember, a good alignment can only offset the negative camber by so much (usually a toe adjustment).

i have a 1.75" drop and my back tires were slanted like a ****. i'd definitely recommend getting a rear camber kit.

It totally depends on the drop. With a small drop like you get with H&R or Eibach Sportlines you can get away with just a wheel alignment.

If you have a low drop like with Neuspeed, Goldlines, Dropzones or coilovers I suggest getting a camber kit.

It'll save you money in a long run

Just my 2 cents

I have Eibach Sportlines, So what you are saying is it should be OK to get away with it.

Thanks

Yup! It'll be okay to get away with. Just make sure you get the alignment done. Unless you are going to be taking off the wheels and stuff for other parts (rotors, brakes, shocks, mags) then you should wait until it's all done.

James, I thought you didn't like the drop on my car? Anywayz, get G5 to install the springs for you. Remember, we get 15% off labour.

Hey James,

No I haven't got them on yet, but I just talked with Incajay, and I am going to pay him to put them on for me. He has helped me with all sorts of things in the past (Clearing headlights / Installing CAI) and has always done a first class job. I owe him more favors than I can count on my fingers

I am not all that crazy about driving out to G5 in Richmond to have springs installed on my car.

I'll let you know how it goes, and we should get together when we have them installed and compare the drops. It would be interesting to see. Did you get a new front lip yet I noticed you were selling one.

justin, ya i decided to go for the h&r's. i guess it's coz yours isn't settled yet that's why it's not that low. but i bought jeff's, and i like the drop, not too low, but you can tell the difference. and yeah i asked g5 and they quoted me 100 after i told them i'm a member of import dynamix. anyway, no worries. i got them installed for 80.

randy, i bought used ones so mine's probably lower coz it's settled. and i have h&r's but i think you bought eibach's. and yes i'm selling a front lip that i just bought...hahaha. i decided i don't want it and i'm going for the octane front.

Hey James,

I bought used springs too. I got them off of someone in Florida I think. It was a pretty good deal. I got them for $90 shipped U.S. of course (so that would be around $150 - $160).

I have been talking with Incajay, and it looks like we are going to attempt to put them in this weekend. Once I have them in I am going to get a good alignment right after!

How is the camber on yours once you got them put in. Do you notice a big difference in your wheels?

Let me know.
Randy

ya just a little bit though. i need to get them aligned still coz i hear squeaking sound in the rear when i do quick turns. probably get it done this weekend. but it does improve handling. i'm surprised with such little drop that i can notice the difference. more grip on the road coz of course lower center of gravity. good luck on the install.
