Blue Dash Lights

Well I finally dove into it last night.

I changed my dash lights from Red to Blue. It was surprisingly not that hard once I managed to remove the center piece of the dash. The site was a big help in advising me how to do that.

I would like to give out a big thanks to ShoGun for the gels, and hope that his taillights are coming along.

It was a pretty easy process to get to all the red gels that needed to be taken out, and once they were out it was a no brainer, just trace those pieces and cut out the blue one's.

Next step is installing my new indiglo guages, and my new panasonic MP3 head unit. Once that is done all my dash lights will be blue. I am going to try to get a hold of a digital camera so I can take pics.

Just wanted to share my triumph.

Awesome Money9!
Did you have any gels left? What did you use to take out the center unit? I wanna do it but I'm afraid of marring the panelling and stuff

Nah man..you can't mess this job up...its super easy...the hard part would be changing your guages to blue..cuz those falkers...have the gel color painted on them..haha...but.....doing the rest is simple....be sure to do the cuttin inside your house..or something..cuz I did it in my garage in the winter and almost died...haha..j/k..but its about a 2 hour job..the cutting is a paint....use super glue to glue the gels back on after...if you plan on doing it.....

i did mine like a week after the meet. everything else is pretty much unbolting. the toughest part is pulling the center piece out that holds the stereo housing. there's like 5 clips that hold it so you gotta pull hard but very carefully. once you got one clip unhooked the rest should be pretty easy coz you'll have somewhere to grip to pull the rest. ask shogun he might have some more gels.

I got like 1 cubic meter of gel left...haha..I went a lil over board..on the buying of da gel..so if you need some...I'll hook you up....

BTW :[/B] getting the center part out (radio, a/c controls etc) is easy...just stick your hand up behind it...once your center console part (shift ***, ebreak) is out....and then push it out...while someone pulls...its super easy if you push from behind it.....then you don't have to worry about scratchin nething... Do what AsianPride says, have two people. One pushing from behind and another pulling. It is alot safer than attempting to get something underneath the center piece, if you do that you stand a chance at cracking your dash.

It isn't as scary or difficult as it all sounds. I am technically inclined, all I did was printed off the removing the head unit DIY from this site, and went from there.

I do have about a sheet and a half left, but one sheet is going to a buddy of mine already.

Grab AsianPride's sheets, he sounds to have alot.

If you need any advice or help don't hesitate to PM me or email me here MY EMAIL

hey money9, congrats on a job well done!!!!
Did you double layer it as I suggested?? Did it turn out to be dark blue as you wanted??

Yes it is a really easy DIY and looks great too.

.Money9: Nope I actually haven't done anything with my taillights yet. I'm just waiting to get my body kit and put everything together. Seems like not a big difference when you only change one thing at a time. When you change everything all at once then it be like !!!!! haha but either way, thanks a lot for the can of nightshades!!!!! I just hope it doesn't have an expiry date..haha I don't know how long til I get my body kit.

You guys should all check out money9's ride when u guys get the chance, it's preety pimp. It's a nice slick black all around and plus all the goodies he been getting lately, it will be a catchy car.

Hey ShoGun,

Thanks for the compliment. Hopefully it will look good once it all comes together. Springs will hopefully be on in a week or two and provide a nice drop, and the strut bars should be in soon. Last thing to get is set of 18" rims, still working on that though.

Happy New Year everyone, don't do anything crazy tonight.
