I was installing this style trailer hitch to pull a cargo carrier with box yesterday.
Unfortunately, following the torque spec recommendations, the top left bolt, highlighted in yellow snapped. The head of the bolt remained in the ratchet and the bolt portion is now stuck inside.
For starters, how would I be able to remove it? Second, is it still safe to use?
(I wont be using it to TOW for the near future, but in theory I do have 7 of the 8 bolts screwed on.
Lastly, with the remaining bolts that have been tightened, should I disassemble everything and tighten by hand? I’m worried that the large majority are over tighten and will eventually snap with the stress (not too sure how all that works) just don’t know what it would do exactly if the over tighten bolts remain there.
I found this image on google, so you can see what I’m talking about. THIS IS NOT MY CAR
