Alarm Going Off

So this morning around 450 I was awoken to my alarm going off on my 2017 civic. I grabbed the key FOB and pressed unlock, lock, auto start, alarm and nothing. So I then walk outside and my FOB isn’t even recognized to unlock the doors. I take the Key out and manually unlock the car and the alarm goes off.

Seated inside I start the car and press the button again to shut it off. It doesn’t shut off. No matter how long the start button was pressed my civic would turn off partially and back on randomly. I finally about about 5 on/off cycles get the car to stay off. But now I have a flashing red alarm light on, some dash lights and my headlights won’t turn off. I finally disconnected the battery. Also when looking at the dash I noticed my outside temp was blank and an error about keyless system displayed. I don’t remember exacts or if anything else presented itself.

I haven’t tried to reconnect yet. I’m planning on waiting another few hours when my neighbors should be up just in case.

Idea what this could be? It’s a 2017 Civic Touring with around 65kish miles.

It looks like your car does not recognize the key, maybe someone tried to rewrite the keys

I just don’t understand it shutting off and on when it wanted to while I was pressing the off button.

Low battery? Rodent chewed up wires somewhere?

Some alarm systems (unsure on the stock one) will set off the alarm if the battery is draining too quickly.

Would that cause the alarm to go off. Honda literally replaced the batter back in July of last year.

Re: Alarm Going Off

check voltage of battery
check ground wires
then check for rodent chewing wire (it's pretty common)

anywhere in particular that I should check or just follow the wires as far back as I can? I just don’t get the car alarm part of all this.

I just went outside and worked on it. Every time I hook the batter back up the AC comes on and dash lights up. Almost as if in ACC mode. Also even if the car is unlocked the flashing red alarm light blinks. I also got the error of keyless entry error just now. But it asks as if we’re in ACC mode when it’s supposed to be off

oh wow. Thanks. Yeah I skimmed over that and missed it. I have an appointment with Honda on Wednesday to check it out and for an oil change. I would hope it’s a battery since I just got one last July I would think it would be free

Re: Alarm Going Off

In other threads we have seen rodents chew up harnesses near the bottom of the engine bay. May not be a bad idea to pull the panels and look around for any signs.

yeah I’ll let Honda check it out and see what’s up. It’s weird. I hooked the jumper cables up and got it started and moved it out of my driveway. But still when turning off it acted like it was in ACC.

Honda said the keyless unit needs to be replaced. I forgot the name of it but it’s $696. Their quit says replace BCM.
