E-brake accident

I was hoping you guys could help me out with a little advice. I have a 2017 civic touring. While I was driving around at 40-50mph, while I was depressing the accelerator about 1/4 of the way down, my passenger accidentally turned on the e-brake while adjusting themself in the seat. When that happened the car jolted back fairly harshly for a second or two while making a vibrating type sound before it deactivated itself. At the time I didnt know what it was so I kept my foot on the accelerator. I was wondering if that is something I need to worry about. Could it have damaged the powertrane? It happened yesterday and I drove around a lot after it happened. Everything seemed to behave as it normally does without any odd sounds. The parking brake also seems to work properly (I use it at work because there is a steep incline where I park.)

Re: E-brake accident

You're probably fine as long as the car still drives fine and the ebrake still works.

Re: E-brake accident

If no CEL, or any change in behavior then the engine is fine.

The main thing to worry about would be the e-brake components and lessor so, the transmission.

Re: E-brake accident

you're fine. If you apply the electronic parking brake while moving, it's like pulling up on the e-brake handle of a regular e-brake, just sounds nasty af. There's a youtube video where a dude tests it out, and it actually stops the vehicle if you hold it while in motion,. If you release the switch, it disengages.
