I spun out on the freeway yesterday taking my girlfriend to BigBear, and I spun the car out. Luckily I'm ok, and so is my grilfriend although she's shooken up.
My problem is that when I finally got the car stopped the engine wouldn't start and for about 5 minutes of being in te middle of the freeway facing oncomming the car finally started but with the check engine light.
I assumed this had to do with the fuel or fuel pressure because when I stopped at the gas station and opened the cap, I didnt hear the hissing sound.
Can anybody tell me why this happened?
*On a side note, I was 2 minutes awa from actually having video footage of the accident in real time but my grlfriend put te video camera away*

Jesus... I saw someone do that **** in the middle of the night. Empty freeway and he spins out, puts it into the center divider then proceeds to spin across 6 lanes into the other wall.
I'm glad you guys are okay. What made you spin?

Knowing I wasn't going to be able to brake in time I gave te car a quick jolt to my right and tried to correct the steerin so I wouldn't end up in a ditch, bt I lost control and fishtailed, sliding perpindiclar to the road missing like three cars and finally I manage to get the car straightned out but in reverse so I slowly came to a stop.
Think of that scene from undercover brother, but without the juice and not as cool.
Re: so i spun out on the freeway
if your cars ecu thought it was in a wreck from spinning/impacts, it might have killed the engine?
I am not being mean i promise, but i laughed my *** off at a mental picture of you and your passengers facing oncoming traffic on the freeway.

I wouldn't worry about that because thankfully no one was hurt. Thread Starter

Well there wa no impact, just spinning. I laughed it off while I was still spinning. The one that would be upset is my girlfriend.

My rear came out around a circle offramp... first thing in the morning (5am) and the ground was wet... was rushing off to one of the first days of my new job- yeah, early as ****. Didnt hit anything, but saw those barriers and guardrail and wasnt too happy when my car was headed for them. I learned a valuable lesson... my tires suck, especially in the rain.

I guess there are time when they say that the speed limit is 30, you should do it. I've seen people take a 25 curve going 30 and nearly crashig into the barriers.

Re: so i spun out on the freeway
I wasn't purposely exceeding the recommended speed limit around the offramp. Have you ever been drive for a long time at a high rate of speed. Eventually feels like you are going slower than you really are. This is what happened to me. 8 hours of doing 75mph and late at night. Me being tired and the sensation I was traveling slower than I was caused that. Drive to Northern California in one stint late at night. You'll know what I'm talking about.

Well, she shouldn't be pissed, you both know you were lucky, you're okay, and you learned from it.
Oh one question, did you end up infront or behind the Mitsu?
I know how you feel, I was driving to work in the winter before I had my winter tires and I was merging on to the highway too fast cuz it was empty cept all the approaching traffic that I wanted to get ahead of, and my rear instantly loses grip on some ice and slides out and I go flying across the whole highway infront of these cars and end up facing them on the other shoulder.
...well, but I wasn't laughing, inside or out, I had a total "phew" moment and it took a while for the blood to start circulating again.
