oxygen sensor

I have a question. For a 2016 honda civic lx.....when replacing the oxygen sensor do you need to reset the ECU (I think that's the name) for the car or does it reset automatically? Just not sure if anything else needs to be done after new one is installed??

Re: oxygen sensor

It should turn the light off automatically, however it would be a good idea to reset the computer

No lights came on promting me to want to replace it. My car just doeant drive as quiet and smooth as it used to so I ended up cleaning my Mass Air Sensor and that definitly helped and seems quieter now. It's like when I would have to accelerate from a low speed to high speed fast I can feel it in the gas pedal and hear it more when I push on the gas. Cleaning the MAS did some good so I figured I'll probably replace the Oxygen sensor and see if that helps even more but I just read about resetting the computer and wasn't sure if that's something that had to be done on recent years models or not. Have u reset if before? Just wondering if it's easy or if I'll end having to take it to Honda and have them do it. I can do the 02 sensor myself atleast.

Re: oxygen sensor

If you have a scanner (which you should, they're $20 on Amazon) it takes 2 mins. Otherwise disconnect the battery, wait 15 mins, then reconnect.
