Hi guys,

I have a 2020 Civic Sport 2.0. Only 2800 miles. Last week i noticed knocking sound from the engine and also noticed rough idle. The engine is vibrating more than i remember and the vibration is felt inside the cabin. It is happening when the engine is cold and when the engine is hot. Also, i see the rpm are bouncing up and down tiny bit. I took the car to two dealers and they said that everything is showing fine, because the scanner is not showing anything irregular. No check engine light. I know that it is not running the same as it was and engine is not supposed to be causing cabin vibration. Dealer will not do anything because of no check engine light. Everything is original. I checked the air filter and all connections to make sure everything is hooked up.

I opened up a case with Honda corporate to see if they can help me.

What could cause rough idle in a brand new car? Could it be the spark plugs?

I am having the same issues with my 2020 civic lx and I’ve noticed when I switch on the ac the idle gets a lot worse than what the idle is when the ac is off. It’s just a little thing I’ve noticed about mine too. Do it may also have to have a deal with the ac compressor.

What did your Honda dealership say about your problem?

NOTE: The AC compressor DOES require a certain amount of engine power to operate, and some amount of noise and vibration are to be expected.
So the question now becomes, is yours abnormal when compared to identical cars

i’ve decided not to bring my car into the dealership because I knew they wouldn’t be able to do much with it I decided to put it into my own hands because I am a training mechanic. So I decided to run a injector cleaner through my car and I was quite surprised actually the vibration almost fully went away I highly suggest that see if that helps your issue as well.

i’m still looking into it and I expect the vibration to remain as is because it’s quite common for the civic however I’m just trying to make it as minor as I can.
