Car enthusiasts and the authorities

i feel that i have to bring this topic up, it is getting rather ridiculas what has been going on. recently on redliners.ca it has been discovered that all thread are printed and stored in files for evidence, some guy driving a mustange was identified by cops using his website screen name, and they tryed using a post of his to prove he was speeding.

now i have complete respect for the police, i do not appreciate people who call them names or phrases like pigs, or donuts, they usually have all the right to give out the tickets they give out. having that said, there really has to be more communication and a better understanding from both sides about the car import/ modding/ enthusiast scene, the fact that a person mods his car does not make him a racer, personally i mod my car because i like the image and the life style, the only crime car modders are doing is street racing, and i can safley say that only a small minority actually do that, we have track that alot of people go to if someone wants to race. another important factor is that half modded cars out there are actually slower then some of the cars available in the market.

one thing that really has to be explained is that car modding is about a trend, a lifestyle, not about crime and illeghal driving. just like hard rock music, its about the style, not about the violence in the lyrics. modding my car makes me spend money and help the economy, but if it makes me a bad person in the eyes of the law, then i will stop, and i will not be helping the economy, but i will be driving the same car i do, the same way.

on another note, the above does not nesserailly reflect my opinion and could have been typed by anone with access to my computer, therefore i am not responsible for any of it, and it may not be used as evidence againsts me

man, as if the po po did that!

I have a hard time believing it. The cops have to actually catch you speeding, and they have to get your speed with a radar gun. Otherwise, you fight it, you win.

That's just ridiculous!!!

Seriously though..we drive civics. we're not about to break the sound barrier even if we WERE speeding. minivans can beat us....enough said

it's totally about spending every last cent of your paycheck on your car. It's a hobby, it's a lifestyle, and its fun.

without hobbies, it's nearly impossible to go through life without killing yourself. hobbies make the week go by fast, cuz you look forward to the weekend. cars are great hobbies! especially civics, because there is a much larger opportunity to mod them, as opposed to other cars.

bah, I don't think the po po can legally do anything, except keep an eye on the guy.
