used car?

i'm trying to look for a used car as well.
some guy told me. to do this.
take the car on the hiway, then when you come back down to local, see if t he car reacts different. then check if smoke comes outta the pipe right when you come back down.
rev the car from 0 rpm to the highest it can go. the let off the gas and hear for any problems. also for normal engins. 5-6-7 is normal. anything under that ... something's probably wrong with the engin.
open the hood and look for screws that have been tampered with.
either than that... i dunno.
