the only race that gave me a good run was a 6th gen Civic coupe with a GSR swap

civic's fast enuf to get a speeing ticket...so it's too fast for my own good

btw, i realized how slow our cars can be when i was driving my mom somewhere and she complained how fast i must be driving cuz the car is so loud. i looked at the speedometer and i must have bee doing like 55. i know it has more do to do with our high-revving engines, but it's damn depressing when your car sounds like it's going to fly off the pavement, but you look out the window only to see some 6 year old kid waving at you in a passing minivan...

Fast, yes.. it can do triple digits that will get you into trouble. But then again, so can a Yugo.

But quick? Ahhh.... no it's not quick at all. Somebody at Honda thought it was a great idea to add 100cc to the car that is continuing to get heavier, and bigger.

Honestly--Civics have not gotten any faster in the last 15 years. Sure, there has been modest power and torque upgrades... but it also been getting chubbier as well.

I wouldn't complain much either, except 15 years ago, Civics were the quickest cars in its econobox class. It's true. And the best handling. Add bulletproof reliablility, and that's why it became a house hold name.

Look at it now. No longer the best handling (gets beat by Focus, Corolla, and Protege). No longer the quickest (gets beat by Neon, Corolla, Cavalier, Sentra, Elentra, and the list goes on!). And it seems like it's also no longer the most reliable (all I see is tranmission complaints all over Accords, Acura CL/TL fourms and let's not forget the recent massive recalls).

Is Honda lazy? You bet! That's what success does to you. Kind of like a bloating lazy heavyweight boxing champion. He doesn't give a rats ***. As long as he wins (ie - in car terms, it sells), he can afford to cough up half *** performance.

And get away with it. I'm to blame. I boguht one!

I have to give credit to Honda though. In 7th Gen Civic's release, in 2001 that is, it was the absolute best value in the class. It just wasn't enough to keep it that way over the time.

But hey, don't worry! It still has unbelievable resale value... and in the end, I know I will smile because I can move onto my next better car, and not take a HUGE hit. I just saw 2001 Focus going for about HALF of what my car is going for. You GOTTA love that!

were you Markham with a neon or something hah, cause the same thing happened to me,
neon pulled up beside me, said nice car, i said thanks, then i dind't kno he wanted to race, he stepped on it before i did for a split second, he was about half a car length, my car was laggy as *** until 5000rpm, thats the only time i pulled on him and i'm not sure if he gave up or something.... dunno have to race another one to be sure

buddy my car goes faster then a bicycle and im happy...... and a BUS, my neon was friggin modded, if i had it NOW it would of got its head port and polished with a 3 angle valve job with cams and whatever, which would of propelled me to mid 14's

but its not about that...... the more mods = bad on gas.... i averaged about 350kms/tank of gas!!!

thats bad..... the best was 450 i got and thats highway! that blows!

the worst i got from a full tank was 250kms... hahahaha i beat it like crazy and that car took it!

You know what, before I got my CIVIC a few days ago, I too thought Civics are kinda slow, but no way man! fast little cars! and I have AUTO!!!
