A little "curiosity' about my new Honda
A little "curiosity' about my new Honda
When I got the car 2 days ago, it had 14 kilometers on it and dealers filled the gas tank up. Now I have around 310 kilometers and the gas gauge is almost GONE to the bottom. I know that Civics have 50 litre gas tanks right? but I am surprised I was able to go only around 300 kilometers before the tank goes empty. Could this be because the car is brand new and eats more gas? Does anyone know how many kilometers Civic has with a full tank?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I found the first month or so the mileage was not all that hot either
possible they did not 100% top off the tank
BTW the MOST I've ever put in my tank even after the gas light being on for some time is 41-42L. And I'd say on average I get 500km out of that

i was getting 600 a tank before the winter..
colder weather drops the mileage..
spring is here and i'm getting about 525, tho i blame the new rubber for the drop..215's'll drag more so..
ya, it sucked for the first couple of fill-ups..
parts are just dragging during the wear-in period..
give it a couple of weeks and if it doesn't come up hit the dealership like gelshmoff said..

Don't worry... I was getting shitty gas milage for the first few tanks of gas as well. I even posted the same question you did when I first got my car.
Just give it some time, your gas milage will slowly increase.

Strange enough, the first tank of gas I had with my car lasted me FOREVER. I picked up on Wednesday, drove to and from work (32km total per day) Thu and Fri, drove to my friend's cottage in Orillia that weekend, drove around the area (bars etc), drove home then drove to work until Wed again that week before filling up. I swear I read well over 650 before the gas light came on. I was ecstatic! That said, a good% of the driving was highway. Nowadays I'm gettin about 550-600 a tank, with a good chunk of highway driving still in there.
i think our tank is 45L isn;t it? cuz last time my tank was completely empty and the red light came on and i was pumping gas and it came up to 44.1something litre.
when i was using the stock engine oil from the dealer i get around 420-450km a tank. mine is a auto LX sedan
then i switched to my own synthetic oil and now i am getting close to 550km and still going.
i was shocked too but when my friend told me his gf's CRV and his TDI gained so much i didnt believe it. but i tried it out myself and i believed him on that.
but it's pretty expensive for the oil change tho. i get the oil and filter at cost but it still comes up to $52 then extra $10 labour to get the oil changed and disposed the old oil.
hope this help and not 1/2 *** answer as vicLX described.

the needle in the gas gauge is not accurate...i hate that thing...
your mileage should get better after 1 or 2 oil changes....
yes our gas tanks are 50 L (says in the owner's manual)
i used to get like 450~ max per tank, but lately i'm hitting 500-600 with highway driving...
hmm..synthetic oil...maybe i should try that someday....
