hydraulic jacks = useless
like the thread says...
its freaking useless if you're car is lowered...
the 2ton - 3ton hydraulic jacks.
like ones you get from 50 to 70 bucks at canadian tire or wal mart.
you cant even get the jack under the side of your car.

not even lowerd!
i only have a kit on.. the jack barely made it through.. it actually touched the bottom of the side skirt as the jack went through.
tried it on my friends car.. neuspeed race springs... not even close.
you try and tilt the jack and it still cant get it under.
its almost a inch higher then the spot where you're suppose to higher the car - from my friends car.
so when i lower my car.. the jacks gonna be useless.
gonna return the damn jack first...

was wondering.. can you use the 2ton hydraulic jack to lift it from the front of the car???
'cause the part that supports it is so damn small.
at tires shops.. the hydraulic jacks they use to lift the car from the front is triple the size. that round supporting part.

Good thing u kept the reciept, i love the laws of canada! cause in hongkong, they're be like screw u! no refunds. u should get one of those bottle jacks, they look pretty cool.
I don't think u can lift a car from the front cause i has no lifting point and the car will not be balance and tip over

but i have my reciept though
im pretty sure you can.. when i went to change my tires..
the guy at the shop jacked it up from the front... *im pretty sure he did* .. but the hydraulic jack he had was three times the size that i have..
you can buy those jacks too.. *i think - dont remember much nowadays* at cdn tire.. but its a lot more $$$.

I can definately fit a hydralic floor jack underneath the front or rear end with the good one or the "decent" one. Are you parking on a flat service, at an angle? To jack the rear, park downhill. To jack the front, park uphill, and put cases of pop on the rear.... but this really shouldn't be required. You should have also checked the height of the jack and the minimum ground clearance your car has.

i think its 'cause its a cheap jack anyways.. like 60 bucks with tax at wal mart.'
and remember, im talking about the 2 ton hydraulic jacks.
these are the jacks that are usually used to lift the car from the side.
edit: actually, it was on a slight uphill....

Thats the problem... why lift it from the side when you can jack it from the front or rear and use a jack stand to keep it up? What are you trying to do, have you try jacking up the rear, you should be able to if you can go over a speedbump.
if you want to jack the front, jack it on the front tow-hook, it's dead centre for our civics. as for jacking on an hill, i dont know about that ... i'd have more faith jacking on an even surface ... then sticking jack-stands on either side.

well with the tow-hook, you can get your car up higher, so if he's having problems with the sides being too low, that is probably the best spot so he can stick jack-stands underneath.

man, I'm really slow with this stuff.
I'm looking for spots to jack up my car so that I can put the jackstands underneath the jack point.
Can I use the tow hook in the front, and the middle frame peice in the rear (where the tie bar goes across)???
This could save me a lot of jacking in the future

dont return it!!!...this is what u do!!!....ive worked at a few performance shops and this is what we always do....if the car is too low for the jack......u take the hydraulic jack to the back of the car and jack it from the tow hook and jack it up as high as the jack can go....then take another jack for the side.....and stick it under the side....this will work fine....if u only have one hydro jack....remember theres one in the trunk for emergencies....that will work fine....
Yes you can jack on the tow hook, its welded to the frame, how else do you get towed?

how can I get my jack all the way under there?
hhehehe my car is only about 3" off the ground...I can't really maneuver a jack under there easily

I've used a cdn tire 2 ton hydraulic jack to jack up the front + rear several times, I stick some bricks behind the tires at the opposite end of what I want lifted just incase and then stick jackstands on either side so its stable in case the jack fails (leave jack in place anyway in case a jackstand slips but if you do it right on a good surface u should have no problems)
Yeah the jack I got from Canadian can jack up my lowered car however I need to jack up a little bit with my factory jack first ...
I will return it because it doesnt jack up high enough for me to put my jack stands at the jacking points ...
The big ones in the garages can jack up your car high above the ground but they're costly ...
