Ya. i agree with how they're cutting cost to make a bigger profit.
Look at our stock deck, it's alrights but i'm surprised that a 90 Jetta comes with a better stereo.. (in terms of sound).

yah i second that. this winter when the roads were icy i slid into a snow bank that was semi-frozen and didnt leave a scratch. another time while parking underground i was in a rush and forgot to put it into park and hit the wall
but again no damage. Some ppl have luck, some ppl don't. I read a lot of car reviews by consumers, most of them say that they love their civic off, they there are those ppl that had a car before that was great (in your case scsGrump) and compare it. Then there are those people who just get the lemon.
No matter what car it is, some ppl will love it, some will hate it.

Sorry, but I have to support this guy.
New Civics do suck.. big o'l time. I also had a 91 Corolla, and it was rock solid. The sad part was, the Corolla was my 1st car and was abused like a $5 ho, while my new Civic was babied like a princess. Yet it gave me tons of problems.
Here is my experience of the two cars:
My Old Corolla
1. Replaced cracked header and rusted exhaust. Age did it.
2. Replaced brake pads.
3. Replaced punctured radiator (physical damage).
My New Civic
1. Unfixed garggling noise from underneath the car when it rains.
2. Extreme rattling, that is unfixed.
3. Replaced tranmission, under warrenty.
4. Replaced catalytic converter, under warrenty.
5. Power lock on passenger side failed to work under extreme cold winter.
6. Ridicously weak shocks, and under-damped suspension.
7. Brake pads replaced, and rear serviced, but continues to sqeek.
I know I'm not the only one... there's a lot of others on here with same problems.
Hey, this is my first Honda, and it's just one man's experience. But I highly doubt my next car will be a Honda again. They make cool cars and all, but I highly value reliability and Toyota is king of reliability, bar none.
The only possible Honda I would consider next is a used 2001 Acura 3.2CL Type-S, because they have been ridicously dropping in price, so I would definitely look into buying one in a year or two. Otherwise, there isn't much left that is appealing. And my Civic has left me a foul taste in my mouth.
What pisses me off the most is dispite all the complaints and initial problems, they still will not issue recalls to fix those problems. That basically tells me that they don't give a **** about after sales service, and they are only content on focusing on new revenues.
Well, **** you Honda. You're not getting MY business again.
(Bitter? Naww.. what makes you say that?)
Oh yeah, about your comment about new Civic's have weak bodys.. it's true too. I parked next to my friend's 2003 Corolla.. I pushed my knee into my Civic, and the panel started to bend. Corolla was solid and resisted any bending.
Cost cutting, yes.. but... Corollas are in the same ball-park in price.
Also, Corollas get just as good gas mileage as Civics, yet they are faster. Give credit to their DOHC engines, and etc.. but, WHY THE HELL IS HONDA STILL MAKING SOHC ENGINES?? I mean, we're not driving trucks. Hell, trucks even have DOHC engines now. It pisses me off that they have the technology, and refuses it to give it to people. DOHC engines with same compression offers better gas mileage and more power. I KNOW Honda can make gas efficient DOHC engines if they wanted too. And you can bet it would offer around 130HP-140HP in the 1.7L displacement form.
I don't mean to be Corolla praising on a Civic fourm, but I'm just using that car as a comparison sake. I understand cost cutting is part of the business, but Honda is taking it to the next level. Honda needs to clean up their act, and make cars like they used to.

I really don't understand why people come on a CIVIC site, only to complain about them. If you really don't like your car then cut your losses and sell it for something you do like. I have experienced most of the bad things that people are complaining about.....I've had 2 transmissions, catalytic convertor, o2 sensors, dents, scratches, door lock freezing, and rattling. But guess what.....I've got other things to worry about and talk about then what my car is doing wrong. I would much rather focus on how I feel when I drive my car, or how I am going to modify it next. For me the benefits of the 7thgen severely outweigh the costs, its a stylish car, fun to drive, and the ladies love them once us guys are done pimping them out (I apologize to the women on the site).
For me the glass is always half full, not because I'm always a optimistic-happy-go-lucky-guy, just because I don't really give a **** where the other half went.

I agree with Big,
and Disagree with 01ocupe...
From your problems 01coupe I think you got a lemon, I bet if you got a another new civci you wouldn't have those problems. so sorry about that...
And to show how much you don't know... just because we have SOHC and NOT DOHC means ****. You think that just because we have SOHC that we have less technology you are WRONG!!!! That means nothing in the technology department... In fact many race cars have SOHC engines... I think you see dual cam and think its automatically better, its just different.... The reason they used SOHC was probably for either to reduce fuel mileage to keep emmisions down or just to make the engine simpler more reliable. Most of the people who drive a civic DO NOT care if they're engine has SOHC or DOHC so there so why use a dual cam when those soccer moms are just driving to the grocery store................
well, anyway, go buy a corolla man so we don't have to hear you anymore.... cause most people on here don't care
They love there car.

I surfed a couple of boards before I bought my Civic and what most people said were good things. I did a search and there was absoultely no thread about the bad things that go wrong with Civics.
I bought my Civic and 1 month later I got 4 dents. I was like "WTF, y does this car get dented so easily"..
Seriously, if I knew it had a weak body and other problems I discovered after, I would of really gone with a Corolla.
Well, I got the car and I can't do crap about it because I spent most of my money on this car.
So i might as well keep it for 2 more years and then get a new one.
BUT if someone asks me "how are Civics". I'll tell then straight. "It has a weak body, and you might run across problems etc. etc."... I won't tell them " i love my Civic so all problems are not a problem at all, therefore it's great. go buy."

I 2nd that!!!!
all cars dent, unless its those plastic doors, and if you want those, buy a Saturn...
i've seen BMW's, Mercedes, Toyotas all with dent marks from peopl opening doors on them.
IT HAPPENS!!!! Deal with it...

It's an opinion where I found that Civics are made of weaker materials /thinner than other cars in the same class...

I think forums aren't the best place to talk a subject like this. Everything sounds so hostile. hahaha..

Dude, UNITE that knot on your pantie.. if you don't want to hear about someone complain about Civics, then why the f-uck did you choose to read this thread?? If you want to read about somebody giving props to Civics, I'll start a new thread for you: "I Love My Civic."
And as for my car being a "lemon," maybe so, but there seems to be an awful lot of people on this same damn fourm having the SAME issues. Maybe there's just a LOT of lemons going around. And that's just from the 1% of the Civics owners that actually get on this fourm. Multiply that by 50,000+ other Civics owners in Canada, and that is just from year 2002. Now you have a LOT of lemons. Still no recalls. Yeah, I really appriciate Honda's service.
For your information, DOHC offers BETTER gas mileage than the SOHC engines. That is a fact. So it doesn't matter if you are looking for acceleration power, or wanting to save a few bucks on gas, or a bit of both, DOHC offers better flexibility.
The fact that Honda is one of the leaders in DOHC engines, and not offering it to their bread & butter cars like Civics is pretty sad. As a consumer, you should concerned with what you are buying and have purchased. It's pretty native to live in dream world thinking you bought some hot shi-t.
As a 7th Gen Civic owner, I think it's fair to say that this is the right place for me to talk about my car's issues with other drivers. It's also fair to say that I can compare my car with other cars in the class, and talk about any other aspects about my car, whether it be good or bad.
I don't know what the f-uck your problem is, but it seems like I offended you in some way because I am talking bad about my OWN car, while everything that I stated is true. If I did, then I apologize.
