Got my muffler put on today..

So i'm finally starting to get some mods done on my car.. I've always wanted a muffler so I ended up getting a used 5Zigen muffler from a guy on torontocivics.com.. He used it for about 5 months and got a full catback system.. The muffler looks awesome!!

So I called minute muffler today and they said that it cost minimum $65 to get it on ($65 for an hours of work).. I went there, they jacked up the car, took a loook at it and quoted me $200 for an install.. They said that they need to bend another pipe attach it to my stock bolt-on part near the resonator there and then weld that piece onto the muffler.. they used the existing brackers on the muffler.. Even though I thought it was expensive, I went with it anyways.. It took them about 45 minutes to put the muffler on.. They used 1" 7/8 piping.. they said that bigger piping to the muffler would make me lose back pressure and the pipe I needed had to fit into the muffler.. ok.. After they put it on, I was surprised it didn't sound loud at all, even the mechanic said that its pretty quiet.. I was surprised because i read that 5Zigen mufflers are loud and its a BIG muffler so it should be loud!! I drove around with it for about half an hour, I can feel it a little but I can hear my engine more than the muffler. I got a buddy of mine to look at it and he said that there's an exhaust leak where they bolted on the pipe .. so I'm going back at 3:30 to get them to look at that.. arghh..

First of all, congrats on the mod... it's starts somewhere then the addiction comes afterwards so beware!! hehehe
As for the muffler being quiet, the only thing that I can tell you is it's probably because of the resonator. If you remove that you'll hear the sound fo sho! VROOOOOOOOOM!!!

I wouldn't suggest getting rid of the resonator. It'll make your exhaust sound like ***. But do get the exhaust leak checked out... that might change the sound a bit.

If anything that exhaust leak should give you some sound too... but have that looked after first then if you want, remove the resonator. I had the same problem with my muffler but as soon as they removed it, then I heard the muffler sound.

the reason why i suggested for you to remove the resonator is because the way that ish works is that it acts as another muffler for your muffler. So basically if you understand what I'm trying to say here is... "THE MUFFLER IS BEING MUFFLED BY ANOTHER MUFFLER" (If "Muffled" is even a word) So if you take out that resonator, you'll have one muffler running instead of two. Aside from myself, Andoy and Stunna both have done this and both liked how their car sounded afterwards.

Give it time... after a while as the muffler breaks in.... it'll get a little louder.
But do not remove the resonator. That is what gives you the nice bass sound out of your exhaust. If you remove it... be prepared to sound like a can of bee's.

remember getting 2.25 inches pipe will make the car louder but since u are using 1 7/8 inches pipe it is not loud at all
u should of do 2.25 all the way and keep teh resonator then u will hear more sound and deep humble sound

TTCivic has teh same muffler and he is going iwth 2.25inches pipe iwth no resonator and high flow cat and sounds damn loud and get him a lot of tickets too

I had that exhaust before i got mine from b c auto....$450 install new...
and it was not loud at all because i still have the original cat and the resonator.... after a week later i customize the mid pipe.... no resonator just the stock cat plus the 5 zigen fireball exhaust it wasn't loud too...if you want loud...clear the cat out....for sure it's loud or get a high flow cat..

if u take out the cat, 50% chance will fail the emission test

if u take both cat and resonator out, a cops see u, he will pull u over and give u a ticket

i suggest keep the cat for sure but taking off the resonator is a personal perferencs for the sound
