stone chips on rims...
...this is a normal thing that will happen to all rims right? well f*ckin duh!
anyways, a friend of mine just got a stone chip that was so bad it took out a chunk of his rim that is equal to the size of a dime, SQUARED. god, it looks like somebody tried to shoot a 9mm bullet through his rim.
after seeing the damage on his rim i found myself driving ever so carefully avoiding any parts of the roads that have sand and pebbles. slowing down to 10kmh when driving on gravel/dirt roads etc. in the end i know that it will be impossible to prevent stone chips because you can't always drive slow.
they need to make "stone chip proof" rims. i'd buy that!
is it ok to leave stone chips the way they are? they won't lead to the rims rusting or corroding, will they?
anybody else here get some bad stone chips on their rims to tell about?

the higher end japense rims like volks are less prone to stoneships.
I never see damages to my friends 3 year old volks rims. and he drives like mad.
it depends on the quality of the rim and finish if they will chip or not.
