my front struts blew without a lowering!

Yup, went to Honda today for service and they said my front struts are leaking and they will replace them under warranty.
The surprising thing is I do NOT have lowering springs.
Has this happened to anyone on here???

Im not concerned at all cause its all warranty work, but it kinda surprised me..

Decamo has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Which dealer did you go to? Did you ask them to check the shocks?

I have a 2002 and my front right is leaking only after one month of being lowered. They're gunna fix it under warranty though.

pretty much ALL 2001 civics made before april 01 blew their front shocks before the cars hit 20k. there was a big design flaw with them. The upgraded 01 and 02's didn't have this problem, but are still poorly designed and use too heavy an oil in the struts. Which is why in winter OEM suspension is VERY tight and better than some stock sportscars untill they warm u and get loose again. When the oil is thick like that the valves in the struts cab break more easily or bend, allowing fluid to just wush by at high pressure with everybump..This eventually blows the seals completely...

The 7thgen civic shocks and cold cold weather don't mix..specially if you have to cross a bridge with poorly made expansion belts every day. Onse set of struts lasted me between oil changes only.. I change every 8000 because I use synthetic and the oil isn't even all that dirty when I change it.

Yup...

jsut say u never lower the car...that's suck...complain to honda canada and they will fix it in no time.
i learned my lesson, if the dealer wont fix it, copy down the person's name who refuse to fix yoru car and send a letter to honda canada and u will hear response from the head office by 1 of the customer rep in a week or 2. it worked for me
