Engine light is on...

My maint req'd light was flashing every time I turned on the ignition, then after a while, like maybe a month, I noticed all of a sudden that the engine light is now on when I drive. I have an Injen SRI, should I take it out b4 going in for service?? I don't think the Injen is what's causing the problem, and if it's not, then I am under warranty. Also, I heard that sometimes the maint req'd light flashes when you're due for an oil change, so could it be that I am just way overdue and that's why the engine light is on? Or should I take it in for service to Honda? I hate taking it in to the dealership... they suck. What do you guys normally do in this situation?

Thanks

no u dont need to take off ur mod's for an oil change or maintance. think about it. how are they gonna replace ur injen filter? haha... jokes
if it goes on that means ur due in for a maintance .. what ever type it is. 1 2 3 or 4.
mod's dont do anything if u mess up ur ride u can either take it off and replace it with a stock one and u still retain ur warranty!

haha but that didnt have anything to do with ur tranny
if u had a modified torque converter and ur transmission failed then u would have been screwed.
but thats not the point... when are u seriously gonna use that warranty? i think most honda dealers know when they sell civics to people around our age group!! we're gonna modify the hell out of it...

Yeah, its due for an oil change, I know that for sure, but what's disturbing me is the engine light, I mean you dont think that the Injen could be the cause of the engine light coming on, do you?

Ya well if you fiddled around with the O2 sensor on the intake the light will go on.

The maintenance req'd comes on every 10000kms or so, from what I know, if the service dept forgot to reset it when doing your oil change.

No biggie, it came on when I didn't have any mods, and all the dealer had to do was reset it. There was a way to reset it, it was starting your car while holding down the odometer button? Forgot.

Yeah, I agree. Too much work to take it off and then put it back in. You don't need to take it off. Just like everyone else. I never took mine mods off. They just ask where I get my stuff and how much. Hahahahaha

hey redvic. haha, i got my engine light to go on, after i started to install my injen sri. then i took it off, and put the stock one back on because my friend reading the instructings thought we were missing parts. haha. then the engine light was on. but i assumed it was for a stupid reason. and I would be able to make it go away. now i have my intake on. and the light didn't go away. how do you get it to go away after screwing with the oxygen sensor?

I had that problem when I put on my throttle body spacer. The reason I think this is what it is caused by is when I started the car the light came on. I was like WTF?? So I looked under the hood and saw that I forgot to reatach the O2 sensor . Anyways It would not go off even when the O2 sensor was hooked up... So I brought It to my mechanic and he cleared it (took him like 5 minutes tops). I forgot how he did it though?

Hey I took my car in for service today, Ready Honda, AWESOME! This is the first time I came back from a dealership happy and satisfied. The engine light's off, they diagnosed and fixed the problem under warranty, didn't cost me a cent, and had my oil changed, my car is up and running like brand new. No complaints

I definitely recommend Ready Honda. Good work guys!

Thanks,
