Rep Power: 0 Guys - Help with Indicators!
Ok so here's the deal: I got pulled over for no reason last week, stupid cop tailgating me, he pulled over someone right before me and right after me, so he was just filling his stupid quota. I wasn't speeding at all, so he pulls me over and tells me he's going to be "nice" and only give me one ticket for my indicators being blue. Now, I have one week left to change them to amber and go show them so they will reduce the ticket. I went to Canadian Tire cause no one else had ambers, and I bought 7440s in amber. Now, I have taken off the blues and am trying to replace them with ambers, only problem is that they won't fit, and I can't find the specs for the indicators anywhere. Does anyone know if the 7440s should fit?? Please Help! I'm stuck...
I just got off the phone with Canadian Tire and they said 7440s fit the back not the front. It doesn't look like ANYONE makes 7443s in amber... do you think it would be safe to use a high heat resistant spray paint and paint clear bulbs with orange paint?? I heard of some guy that painted over his amber bulbs with a high heat resistant silver spray paint and he said it went fine, what have you done when faced with this situation??? HELP!

providing they throw a white light they'd be okay..
amber or white on the front..
rear can be either red or amber for directionals..
(unless they changed the HTA in the past month anyway..)
what some peeps have resorted to is actually carrying a copy of the HTA with them

Rep Power: 0 Thanks a bunch, everyone, I am taking my car to the reporting centre tomorrow to get them to get rid of my ticket, the officer said I had 15 days from the date of the ticket to show it to the reporting centre and they would either reduce or remove my ticket.
BTW: Where can I get a copy of the HTA? Like one that I could keep with me?
OT: are blue parking light bulbs illegal as well??
Thanks again

Rep Power: 0 Blue lights anywhere on the car are illegal. No ifs ands or buts. If you have neons or strobes inside the cabin of the car and they are visible from the outside (espically strobes), you can be issued a ticket also.

Rep Power: 0 CivicBoy, do you think its ok for me to just put my stock clear bulbs back in? They would look sorta amberish next to my PIAAs. Are clear indicators actually legal? and where can I get a copy of the HTA? I saw your original post but I have searched the web and I cannot find a recent copy of the HTA anywhere? By conformity, white or amber are ok as stated in the HTA. You can't have any other colours on the front. The rear can only have red or amber (for signalling only) and white (for reverse only).
The basis for this is:
White light:
- allows other drivers to tell that your vehicle is approaching them.
Red light:
- allows other drivers to tell that your vehicle is moving away from you (in the same direction)
Amber light:
- allows other drivers to tell that your vehicle is about to or is in process of making a direction or positional change.
Blue light/flashing blue light:
- allows other drivers to tell there is a service vehicle usually of larger than average size that is performing service on the road usually at a slower rate of speed and/or requires more than the average road space of a normal vehicle. Be it it's physical vehicle size or the area around it in which it's service is affecting.
I have cleared marker lamps also and have yet to have trouble. The bulbs are the stock ones. Be careful with the PIAA though, you cannot exceed a certain intensity of light YET, another subsection also says you cannot alter the amount, intensity or projection of light being produced. Don't you love ambiguity???
This means possible trouble for:
Using non-standard bulbs (PIAA, XENONS, etc... which do not produce the same intensity of light as stock bulbs)
Projectors and HIDs (because the physical disbersment of light <angle and direction> has been altered from stock)
Why do BMW's or other similar cars allowed to use projectors or bluish bulbs?
- because that's how they came stock from the factory and has been approved by the government.
- vehicles altered other than these are not approved, hence not legal.
