How do you convert L/100km to mpg?

How do you convert L/100km to mpg?

ok on honda.com and honda.ca they list the civic ex/si as 32/38mpg and 8.2/6L 100/km. the tanks are 50L or 13Gal, 50/13.2 = 3.79 would be the conversion rate. 60 mph is 100km/h. 100/60 is 1.67. so....

8.2 / 3.79 = 2.164gal
100 = 60 miles

60 / 2.164 = 27.726mpg

if honda lists 32mpg to equal 8.2L per 100km than why does my calculation show 27.726mpg equals 8.2L per 100km?

please tell me where i went wrong or if honda is wrong.

First off, why are you double checking GIVEN specs?? [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/IMG]

But here is where you went wrong:
You used the EX's manual mileage and our Si's auto mileage..

30 MPG is about 8.1 L / 100KM
Which is close enough... since they are just estimates...

Ok my bad, but the mpg was just something to compare to so it didn't affect my calculations. even an auto at 30/38mpg my calculation shows 8.2L at 27.726mpg. that is a big difference from 30mpg. reason i was checking is because i hear ppl saying i get this and that mpg so i figure i see how much i get. i had in mine 8.2L = 30mpg but when i calculated my last few tanks i did better than 8.2L yet converted to mpg i got less than 30mpg so i got curious.

so what's up with the bad math by honda or me?
