CARJACK? - did I witness a carjack?
K, I was picking up my brother from UT [St George Campus] last night [this morning] around 2:00AM, I was waiting for green at Yonge and Rosedale [the road that leads to Rosedale].... I heard a siren and honking, I thought it was an ambulance, so I moved over to the right, as the light turned green... What do I see, a towing truck with grey [purple-ish] integra attached to its crane speeding past me.
The siren that I thought was from an ambulance was an alarm on integra... he was in front of me on the rosedale road until he made right on bayview...
The driver of the white towing truck was doing good 80k in 50k rosedale, so me and my bro thought, hell, this could be a jack, so I catched up and memorized the license plate of the acura... I think it was AMVF 171

i witnessed a more direct one about 2 years ago, i was going to my car and beside mine was a EG6 suped up, there were 4 guys working around it trying to get it open, that was pretty weird
Actually, that's been seen a few times and I used to know some tow truck drivers.
The car was probably in a tow-away zone and they just hook up the car and if the alarm goes off they don't touch it because if they open up the car and disconnect the battery, they'll be held responsible for damaging the vehicle etc..
This is unlike scratching the car because they'll easily say the car was like that and get away with it.
As for their speed, 2am is a prime time for tow truck drivers because on a lot of streets you're not allowed to park after certain times/overnight and they rush to get in as many jobs as they can so they can make a few more dollars.
