repairing amps in T.O.
anyone know how to repair an amp?
I have a MTX BLUETHUNDER PRO 504 amp w/ some really annoying problems...
it's a 4channel that had 3 channels blown to smitherines...i managed to get 2 repaired and now 3 of the 4 channels works...
it's still buggy though cause it's outputting a ton of distortion....i can use it as a 1 channel sub amp but i can't bridge any of the channels together because each channel is also outputting different voltages(one channel is slightly louder than the other...results in a non-linear bridge=terrible sound..)...
i'm guessing that there might be a problem with the op-amp section(preamp+lowpass/highpass filters)...the 3 channels are outputting ok but the signal is being distorted somewhere inside the amp...
those pots and switches on the MTX amp are also extremely flimsy...adjust them too many times and they die really easily...(i guess they used the cheap switches because they aren't really meant to be pushed after initial installation...)
I've checked and fixed most of the bad solder joints(damn, MTX soldering is extremely bad)....
anyways, just an opinion though...I don't reccommend buying any MTX amps...this one i have, had lots of cold solder joints and shiet when it's supposed to be one of the better ones from that model year...
