Bottom Line: Nissan is a 3rd rate Japanese automobile manufactoring company that is TRYING desperately to compete with Honda. They were recently bought out by Renault because they didn't even have enough money to survive on their own.
Sentra WISHES they had sales of Civics.
Wanna know why they don't sell? Quite easy. Less reliable. Less resale value. Less comfortable. More noise. Less safe in crash tests. Uses more gas. Looks bad as a Neon. More noise/viberation/harshness. American level fit & finish.
Just a crappier car over all.
One thing they've been doing lately is putting bigger motors in, to combat Honda's efficiency (ie - Sentra, Altima, Maxima, G35, Q45, and EVERYTHING else in its line up). But the truth is, they even have to LIE about their horsepower. Don't believe me? Just check out the dyno sheets (at Injen). You'll see their horsepower drops the most from at wheels vs. rated horsepower.
I don't blame guys in Sentras for wanting to compare themselves with Civics. The benchmark baby, the benchmark.

the sentra just looks sooo freakin ugly guy......... even the se-r..... or spec v.......... there's something weird about the sentra...... and i really hate how friggin nissan is trying to show that they have sooooo much power..... goddammit..... i mean..... if honda threw a 3.5L engine into they're accord, it'd be sooo much more power than the maxima.....i mean.... the freakin s2000 is a 2.0 and it produces as much power as the maxima...... now onto the sentra...... man that sucker has a 2.5L engine....... the civic sir is a 2.0L...... that pumps out as much power at the wheels as the se-r..... the truth is.... nissan is just lazy..... throwing in a bigger engine just saves time on they're R&D.....
i've been in a spec V and I'll admit it can be a really fun ride...don't know about reliability though...
I also like my 7th gen civic...too bad it didn't have the vtec engine...
i've driven the 03 corolla for a few days while my coupe was in the shop and the corolla accelerates pretty quietly and quickly...the interior of the 03 corolla also looks nice....however, I hate the exterior design...it's too ugly for me to buy....
btw, i saw a spec V get smashed today...i was heading to school and there was a red spec V that rammed into some old car as it made a left....the front bumper fell off and cops were in the area...the assso blocked the entrance to the parking lot and made me late for class....

New 3.0L Accord smokes the 3.5L Altima... and it's STILL a single cam engine. Honda's not even trying.
Like it or not, the 165hp SE-R (auto) kicks my 127hp, 1.7L VTEC engine's ***.
I actually like the nice styling of the front bumper and the headlights, but the *** is fugly, and I hated the cheap plastic-feeling of the interior and the tight legroom in the back....
For an even cheaper price than a Civic sedan, with more hp, and tight suspension, I think it's a good deal for what you're getting....
You can't really compare the Civic coupe that most of you guys have to the SE-R or the Sentra XE.... Compare the sedan, and well, I'd actuallly take the Sentra over my EL, given the price difference.....
Though, I'll tell ya, I love my 3 yr roadside assistance
I got a flat, got it fixed free ASAP. My friend got a flat, had to change the wheel himself, and now he's gotta pay out of pocket to get it fixed

I own a 1.7EL myself, and guess what, I'm buying a rich man's Civic sedan... POS.... The doors move when I roll the windows up/down (it might have been design intent, but I don't see any other high end cars do this BS), the doors close with a hollow thud, and I've got road noise coming out all over. And all the rattling that everyone's complaining about...geez.
I'm not aware of all the problems associated with the Sentra, but you'd have to admit it's a great rework from the previous gen (like the Altima), and it's a good deal.
Am I reading the wrong charts at Injen? I'm not sure.... Maybe I am.... But, I checked the Sentra SE model, and it said something like 125hp without intake, 129hp with intake.... Sounds close enough to the rated 130hp engine to me....non? The Civic SiR one was something like 143hp no intake, and 149hp with intake??
Less reliable? We'll see. Give it 5 yrs. My POS EL has so much problems with it already I dunno... 7th gens really do suck.
Less comfy? I'll agree only to a point. It's a harsher ride on the SE-R, but that could be because of the larger wheels? Or probably more towards the tighter stock suspension.... But, I really like their clothy-plasticy front buckets.... better than the stock cloth POS that Civics have.... I've got leather, so I'm ok
Bigger engine to 'cheat' their way past Civics? Sure..... But that's an 'upgrade', just like the Civic SiR is to the Civic... It's a whole friggen 2.5L versus the 2.0L in the SiR, but hell, their R&D sucks I suppose....
Sales like Civics or not, you can't argue with the fact that the SE-Rs are hot sellers, so hot that you have to wait 1+ months to get one, and the SiR sales are lagging like a fat ho.

I have to admit I saw a aqua green sentra, all done up ( i believe it had a factory body kit but I could be wrong) with dark tint and 17 inch factory rims on it, it looked a lot better than some of the vehicles I've seen on this sit - and I have a friend with a red sentra, fully loaded, and it is a nice car and drives very nice - I was scratching my head and wondering how much I could get for my Vic if I traded it in....but then I realized I'd lose money and got back in my car
hahahah speaking of Nissan's
in Brantford the HONDA and NISSAN dealership's are side by side!!!!
funny when i bought my car they had a competition against eachother........ on a monday night
well needless to say i wonder if they sold any cars at all when they had there little event against eachother.
b/c Brantford HONDA sold 26 cars that night.
i aint bashing Nissan's b/c they make damn good cars..... especially the 300zx which is now discontinued etc.. the Maxima, altima and those cars are real power horses!!
i have respect for any car which is FAST!
yeah true enough we can swap!!!!
id like to swap one day if i had cash!!! maybe just drop the SIR hatch engine in!!
