Probably one of the WORST mornings EVER!... Jacked!

Imagine this... You're fast asleep in bed, when all of a sudden your awoken by the doorbell. You wake up to go answer it and it's your neighbour. " I don't think you're working on your car are you?" " No I reply, why do you ask?" He points to my car... and it's sitting on 4 milk crates!!!! My rims got jacked!!!! You guys don't know how pissed off I was this morning. This is probably one of the worst mornings I've ever had. So all you guys with tickets, consider yourself lucky... well at least luckier than me. After that I put on my old Si rims, drove to the police station to file a report, and now I have to call my insurance to see if I can get anything back for them. I bought them used...

well, you'll have insurance coverage but you'll still have to pay your deductible most likely, becuase it s partial theft........sorry to hear that man, they were sweet rims too - if you bought them used and you don't have a reciept show the insurance company your bank statement for a withdraw amount for the rims (if thats what you used) good luck man and again sorry

I did have lock nuts too... The thing is I don't live in a busy area at all. And my house on my street isn't visible from the main road. Someone must have followed me to my house. AHHHHH! sorry, had to vent again.

I'm with RBC insurance because I work with them so I get a discount. My rims aren't that popular so if I do see a car with them, I'm definitely taking a closer look. Thanks for your help dm1preppy.

The only thing I'm not sure about right now is proof that I had the rims. Is it better if I get the guy who I bought them from to issue me a hand written receipt or to show bank statements? Would I get the amount I paid for them or less? Should I claim a higher amount?

and no I didn't have an alarm. The wheel locks I had I guess were from Tenzo, so I guess they were fairly common if you had the rims.

receipt would be best (with pics to prove you had them on your car) cause if you get rims stolen and there not on your car, no coverage ..........and make sure the date of the receipt is right, don't do it for todays date cause then your screwed

time to buy some lock nuts w/ a key...

some people gotta learn to respect other peoples property...
at night i park my car as close as possible to a wall, so they dont get access to all four rims..

I think you should just get a bunch of pictures together, contact the guy you bought them off of so he can write you a written contract/reciept for the rims... anything helps, like someone said, the bank withdrawl would be good too. And yes, if you know some shops they can write you a reciept for the rims as if they were brand new, just pay the tax on it... but first see if your insurance company will give you ANYTHING at all... Good luck man, really hate to hear these kinda things

i know, if someone gave me a hand written reciept, I would have a problem with it - especially if taxes are not included ........i had a stereo claim where the guy gave me a hand written receipt - I cut the claim by 50% and paid him half of what it is worth - I assume this was a private sale????

Yeah it was... That's why I'm think if I should claim a higher amount to get back around the same price I paid.

OMFG That truly sucks.

At least you had some old rims to put on. I'm surprised the ***** had the ***** to do it in your driveway.... your neighbourhood doesn't look ghetto.. (from the pics)

Time for an alarm + tilt sensor....

If you claim higher AND they find out they will deny your claim althogether....if you have an offical reciept with tax drawn up and everything looks good and checks out they may not checke it out and pay it minus you ded - BUT, they may call the seller to confirm things and then you may be screwed - I 've caught a couple people that way and denied the claim - pics help alot cause then you can prove you had them .......you have an advantage as your an employee and they may jsut pay it out - thats what we do most of the time - I'm not gonna tell you to claim higher but I'm not going to tell you not to either ...... If I was in your situation I would wait until you talk to the adjuster, get a feel for how strict they are and if there demanding a lot of things and then come up with a value

There are ways to protect them, ie. parking in the garage and I do like flippedout's suggestion of parking close to a wall so they can't get all four rims. I live in Oakville, so you don't think these kinds of things happen, it's a smaller town, but I happened to me.

dang that sucks

1) how many wheel locks did you have on each tire?
2) alarm?

you should get compustar, it has anti-jacking..... right now if you slap my rims with your palm, it'll go off, at least you can put the pager beside you when you sleep.... $480 max for install and compustar pager alarm, at Promax in scarborough

2k1sicdn: i think that should be your next mod.... cause you know the guy that stole your rim..
if he knows you don't have alarm..he might come back next time...but it's for you owe safety..
get the compustar..pager alarm..it's worth the money...at least you will know if something happen to your car..
