Hi Everyone! Newbie here with a tint question.

It looks like I'm gonna be getting my Civic sometime near the end of this week, and I was wondering which places in Scarborough or any other surrounding area I can get a GOOD tint for a good price. I don't know much about tinting... so I need some feedback. The dealer is charging me over $350! Sounds pretty high to me. What kinda film is there to choose from? I just want a "regular" black tint, with no bubbles of course. I don't want any mirror tint or anything like that, but I do want it dark. Legally, how dark are you allowed to go? Is there anything else I need to know or be aware off when it comes to tinting Civic? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

if you go to the LINKS forumn at the top of the page it has all the tint laws in Canada - should tell you how dark is legal

35 percent for the front two doors
and the rear you can get as dark as you want but i suggest 20 percent all around

carbon tint

only special request is to try to get the dot matrix all covered in the rear... i know mine wasnt =(

should go around 2 bills for a high quality good job

the dealership's just gonna bring it somewhere... i dunno anywhere
well i do but i dont recommend tint king

someone else has to know some other places

welcome to the site

Thanks for the reply everyone. supYo, so I should go for 20% "carbon tint" all around? And get the dot matrix (that's the brake light right?) filled in? Machina, which Apple Auto Glass location are you referring to? I like the sound of a lifetime warranty. vicLX, I replied your private message and thanks for the invitation to the upcoming meet... but I don't know, I won't know anyone... and I'm pretty shy. All of you seem to know each other so well... and have sick rides... I don't know tho, I'll think about it.

every apple autoglass should have the lifetime warrany...just call a few....you shouldn't spend more than $200 including taxes...and make sure they don't tint around the break light...as for everyone knowing everyone, it's mainly just from posting here for most of us, I've only been to one meet so far and everyone is really nice and cool....you should go...what model of Civic are you getting?

sup YO... yah, I heard the one on Brimley and Sheppard is no good. Anyone know of a good location to get it done? Maybe even know someone there? As for the dot matrix, uhh... I haven't gotten the car yet, so I don't really know what you're referring to, but when I get it, I'll check it out. By the way, carbon tint is just black right? And you said 20% all around... isn't 20% too dark for the windshield?

Machina... I'll be picking up a Black Civic Si Veloz Coupe... but with an AUTOMATIC transmission. Only cuz parents can't drive stick and they told me to consider getting an auto, incase of emergency or whatever... so after thinking about it, I agreed. I'm alright with the decision tho... no big deal...

Alright, thanks for the replies. I think that's all I have to know, huh? No purple tint, that's for sure! I'll give SpeedTech a call when I have time tomorrow and see how much they'll charge me.

Alright Herbalus, will do. I don't have time to call up places just yet, but I will keep you posted for when I do. If you happen to call any places or anything like that, let me too, alright? Thanks!

Sorry Machina, but auto it is... I had to compromise with my parents. Let's just leave it at that, cuz you don't know how badly I wanted to get stick, but damn, it didn't work out that way. Oh well... auto won' t be so bad, I guess..., but it won't be all that fun either. *sigh*
