Guys they are no more than $20 at Crappy Tire.. lol.. .you really don't have to search far for them.

I have them in my beater, a '92 Corolla, and yeah, they are bright! Low beam's light pattern is nice and wide, and the high beam is free of hot spots and spreads very very wide. They are totally street legal (DOT approved) and last a lot longer than those cheap Tiwanese bulbs (these ones are made in German, BTW).

If you guys are in for the colouration, I would search for the Sylvannia Silverstar. They have the look that we want (4100K) and is made from their premier 30%+UP bulbs. This is a real 30% up, not the cheezy "55W=100W" misleading advertisement. So give those a try, I heard some really really good things about them.

I don't think SilverStar is available in Canadian Tire *yet*....

As far as colouration goes, don't worry about it, there is no temperature difference a 6000K bulb and a 3000K bulb. The temperature difference comes into play when the wattage increases. Higher the wattage, higher the temperature. Which means more chances of bulb burning out.

Higher Kelvin (or ####K) is like the colouration of a candle flame... the outer part (red/yellow) is considered lower colour temperature, whereas the middle part (the blue/white) is considered higher colour temperature. It has got nothing to do with brightness or heat though.

how much is the HID for our car? anyone have them on this forum? and i want to see how bright they are before i committed to save up for it. i like the HID or xenon on cars that came with it cuz they are the far the brightest and the most reliable. i dont know about the aftermarket one like Phillips or others brand.

I have the Sylvania Cool Blue right now on my car. They're replacements for the Philips Vision Plus I used to have.

Compared to stock the Cool Blue are brighter, they have good light output for halogen. They aren't blue at all.

I prefer the Philips Vision Plus slightly, the seemed a tad bit brighter. But both are improvements on the stock bulbs. I got my Sylvania Cool Blue bulbs at Canadian Tire for just under $20 each. Now compare that to some PIAAs!
