purose of the cool air intake

just wondering what is the purose of the cool air intake, can i install it in my 2007 honda civic sedan LX and is it safe

It will let your engine breathe better, more horsepower, and yes it is safe.

ya but i asked honda were i bought my car and they said it will mess up my warrenty if i install the air intake is this true

yes cause it MAY cause damage(hydro lock) to your car which wouldnt have occured if you kept the original intake.
which they shouldnt cover by warranty because its not their fault.
