My hids went nuts on me last night!

K, my hids went screwy on me last night. I noticed my drivers light was flickering a bit once in a while, then it turned right off, so i turned my lights off completely then back on and it was ok, but then a minute or 2 later my passenger side light did the same, and it shut off. Did this quite a few times on me last night. Checked the fuses for my lights today and they are fine, replaced them anyways just to be safe. I'm gonna go out tonight for a drive and see if it still does it. Any ideas as to why it would do this?

Btw, i have the xenondepot extreme hid kit 6500k from speedstar performance in markham. I've had them for 2 years and never had a problem, great lights, except for yesterday.

do you have an upgrade wire harness? maybe your stock wires are finally failing. only reason they would turn off is if they are not getting enough power to arc. if wiring is fine, then the ballast or bulb is going bad.

^^effin right. I had this problem with Brightstars and seen it on a couple of other brands on the 7thgens. If the wiring is fine then I'd say ballasts are starting to go.

well first do you have an upgrade harness with relays hooked up so hids are getting full power from battery? but really it sounds more like a ballast issue because sometimes they still work. bulbs dont usually just die. sounds to me like its time for a real retrofit. you can get some nice hid projector for $100, philips d2s bulbs for $68 pair, and then all you need are ballasts maybe $150 and you're set plus a lil more for other expense and wiring. www.hidplanet.com

gstyle is an unknown quantity at this point
might be your relay dude. I have the exact same kit from the exact place & had the same problem too. What are the chances?

but if the relay is bad, they would not work at all. unless...its getting wet or something.

i can't see them getting wet, it seems like after like 10 minutes or so of being on that they are alright and stop doing it but not sure. I guess i'm just gonna wait till they actually blow. Cuz they've been perfect up until now, never had a problem with them. If its the ballasts going, can i just get any kind of ballasts or do i need to get the same ones from xenondepot? And can i change the k on them from 6500 that i have now to something else? Mine now are a nice purple tinge to them. Thanks a lot for your help guys.

My friend was having that same problem but with a different name brand. We found out that the wires connecting to the harness were getting loose so if u wiggle the wires the lights come back on. So make sure the wiring is all good first.
