Civic '02 SiR Typhoon System
Civic '02 SiR Typhoon System
I have a 2002 Civic SiR and over a year ago installed a K&N Typhoon intake system. After install, I noticed a very loud "poping" or backfiring originating from somewhere below the accelerator pedal. In fact I could feel it through the pedal itself. Honda Canada said get rid of the intake and K&N said have another shop check the problem. K&N said I had an leak somewhere that was allowing fresh air into the exhaust system and it was combusting. Two different Honda shops checked out the problem and could not figure out where the "pop" was coming from or why. Both said get rid of the intake.
Anyone else expereince a similar problem? Any solutions? Is the intake system worth the extra punch and sound at the possible expense of future engine problems?
Thanks,

I cant see how in intake could be related to a popping sound in the exhaust. But I would do what they said and remove the intake, put back in the stock and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, return your intake for another one cause an intake should not cause any popping.
