All I need is this:
- 2.5" notebook format hard drive
- MAXIMUM capacity - 80GB or even more if there is such a beast...I only see 100GB in 4200rpm so far)
- must have at least 200G operational and 900G non-op shock rating
- fluid dynamic bearing would be nice but as long as it fits the shock specs then I don't care
- 5400rpm
- 8 or 16MB buffer
- Serial ATA interface would be heavenly, but if not the standard mobile ATA connection will be OK, I do have a converter
Email me at my work address (I'll pm it to you as well) tomorrow and lemme know if you find anything. If you don't, no problem, I've found this at Logic:

I can come by on Saturday or um....next Saturday....

All I can figure out is an 80 gig Toshiba Notebook (HD-I-NB-TOS80-5400), you're looking somewhere in the range of 175 taxes in. Come by tommorrow, or call me to confirm. I'm too high right now.

That's amazing work man. Not my style since I would myself like to preserve at least some of the lines on the car, but that looks really fuqqin good homey.
BTW come to sauga soon to check my install and we can blaze up a storm for all the help and advice you've given me. A true guru everyone. Take a bow, 909.

HA HA so I see.
Dammit, my burner is gonna be a TIIIIIGHT fit into the pocket next to the ebrake. I'm talkin mm of clearance here, and I always err on the generous side, so I'll probably end up snapping cables, lol.

Basically it sits, resting against the floor.
Then with the pocket removed, it's being held side to side.
We're talking no clearance literally.
I sprayed the face black to match.
Glassing will have to wait, being too lazy.
We'll have to hook up sometime, comming weekend, if its coo with you.

Well, I'm parts shopping Saturday, gettin the last of the wires and a GPS module hopefully, and then install will begin. Also gotta hit Homo Depot for mounting ideas....I'm getting nervous, so many "what if" things about the power supply, screen, battery life, oh man. And on top of all that I have to wait for my new rubber (should be here any day now, need $$ to clear customs) and the spare power adapter and extra Xenarc bezel, impulse buy when I cut the wrong end off my Xenarc's cigarette lighter power adapter. I'm really hoping I don't have to resort to internal video...please Radeon 7200, don't be using up all my wattage, ha ha.

R1style, it's a 10 inch touchscreen made by ELO Touchsystems. (www.elotouch.com) Made for commercial applications, like bars, restaurants, medical, point of sale terminals, industrial, ect.... BTW, your DVD looks great on this screen

Will, is Sunday good? I work till 6 on Sat, so I'm off when it gets dark. Sat or Sun is coo with me ... I'm gonna call you first.
For mounting what I did was I bought some 1/2" MDF and made a box. I bolted the box to the car, and attached the case with a few screws. It's nice to have access just in case you need to move the system in and out of the trunk.
The other stuff is easy, use the inverter to power the screen take as much load off the opus as possible. If your Radeon 7200 is 64MB, it should fine. If you're worried about battery life, just use it when the car is running. You'll never have a problem that way. Damm you're spending a lot of money man. Can I have your job?

Yeah give me a call. I'm supposed to help someone out Sunday but I don't imagine it would be an all-day thing. Saturday I'm out of town as usual. Depends also if I get my other parts before the weekend.

Ah yes. Mediacar has all sorts of skins for that purpose. I think I'm gonna try to go without a front end and just use shortcuts and hotkeys for my setup. Rawr.

Small update, the molding is almost done:

All done save for some wet sanding and about 50 layers of clear coat. The carputer itself is awaiting deployment, sans wireless network for now, cause I just wanna get this shizznat installed already!
Sorry for the crappo pic this is off my cam fone. In real life it's WAY more red, got sort of a candy finish to it. I took a bunch more, will post them when the project is complete.
Just wanna say AGAIN that without 909 I wouldn't have even looked at this project, so thanks Dave, you're the wind beneath my wings. Or the jam beneath my toes. Or something like that.
