winter tires......... how many seasons now?
im going into my third season with my nokian hakka1.... not as good as it used to be... but it's still doing the job....... crusing down the street at 60km/h on a 60km/h street...... while everybody is taking it carefully........ not that im not, just that i have confidents in the tires... haha
see how it goes this season and prolly get a new set for next season.
thinking about switching brands and saving a few hundred bucks.
any opinions on brands?

This is my 3rd winter for my michellin alpine artic mine are not as good as before but it's still doing the job, but I drive more slower now because my tire's dont' have alot of tread left should be my last season using them.
I brought mine at green bay tire with steelie 185/70/14 $600 with steelie.
how much did you guys pay for your winters?

My 186/65/R15's cost me $718 with steelies at Green Bay.... Grrrr.
Which reminds me. Have to check the wear marker soon...............

It's reassuring to hear you're getting three complete seasons out of your Hakkapeliitta 1's. Nokians sound like they wear very well. I recently installed a set of their newly released (Aug 04) Hakkapeliitta RSi. They've been getting rave reviews, apparantly winning awards and such for their innovation and design. More info can be found at http://www.nokianrsi.com
While everyone is driving like a granny, I'm plowing through like a tank.
Corners and Braking in bad weather are so predictable and more importantly always consistant.
I feel like the master motherfvcken snow drifter that owns winter.
Snow, Ice, Slush, Rain, bring it on doesn't bother me -its actually fun now.
Now why trade all that safety, confidence, and reduced winter driving stress to save a couple of bucks on a cheapy set of winter rubbers.
Stick with your Nokians man, you even said you had confidence in your tires.
Btw I paid around $120 per tire wholesale, and I think they're worth every penny.

this is also my 3rd winter for michelin arctic alpins... mine got me out of this ice mess yesterday at FMP...LOTS of tread left. Of course, I've still only have 34000km on my car (2002).
i think i need to try them hakka1's next...that is...whenever i can wear down those michelins at the rate i'm driving! hahahaha...
mine were expensive but i was desperate... $600+tax WITHOUT steelies!

I'm on 2nd season with Michelin Arctic Alpins (Cost $500 flat after tax not including steelies).
They are still doin' great, but don't stop me from e-brakes and donuts.

Also on my 2nd season with Michelin AA "Cost $300 used but with ... 99.9% no steelies used only 2000km on them "
and still great ... i'm plowing lil cars=P
gonna try others tires next seasons .
