VC Trade
OK You guys know it was bound to happen, a thread on VC being gone
For those of you not familiar with the deal, we traded VC to the nets for Alonzo Mourning, Eric Williams, Aaron Williams and two first-round draft picks.
It's awaiting league approval, which is standard procedure for trades ion the nba.
Just wondering what Toronto fans think of the deal which is why i posted it under Canada East. How it affects our team is what counts here.
My opinion is, its great! this is how:
He and his contract are gone, so now hopefully we can buyout Alonzo's contract for pretty cheap cuz lord knows he doesn't want to bring his family/medical team up to canada. then, save that cap room and actually build a real team.
I for one, am extremely happy! I guess that VC jersey i got my girl for her last bday is useless now...
(I only got it for her cuz she liked VC, i disliked him a whole lot!)

When you say TO will just buy out his contract what to you mean by that? Just pay him money without having him play?

the trade is aiight.......... i wsa hoping for a big name player in return....... like Ray Allen, hahahahaha
but that wasnt gonna happen. If i was a GM, i wouldnt trade Ray Allen for VC. haha
we still need help up front.. and having mourning help out bosh is good... need to coach him too...
i like the two first round picks that we got... if we're building... might as well get some future picks.

i was at work when this happened and my boy left me a message saying that vc got traded for williams...i thought he misprounced it for Jefferson. i was like YEEAH baby ! sick trade..but it wasn't the case. But whateverz man cry baby is out of T.O. Rebounding much improved IMO...and for Alonzo...if he wants to go to Heat..deal him and get Eddie Jones..
eric and aaron williams are nothing more than throw in's, alonzo is a piece of sh*t we should drop him asap, with all his injuries it's quite obvious NJ was looking to dump his contract somehow, the jewel of the trade for the raptors are the two 1st rounders. they better pray that NJ stays on the bottom. that will up our chances of getting a high pick, they owe us two first round picks from the trade.
the first thing the media and fans do when the team starts to lose is blame the coach, in this case it's Lenny Wilkens(one of the best PG of all time and the winningest coach). ok, so they fire him and get a new coach, do that solve the problem? nope, we still end up with a mediocre record. so now we fire the GM(that WAS a good move). does that solve the teams inability to win? nope. so now let's blame VINCE. labelling vince as a cry baby is unfair. he had a knee injury that slowed him down and that is unfortunate. i played highschool ball and i know what a knee injury can do to you. most people don't know how it is, they just want vince to get on the court and put up big numbers. i think the fans and the media drove vince to leave, personally i thought vince tried his best to cope but in the end it was just too much.
i know vince will put up big numbers in Jersey and i'm happy for him. i still think he's the second best player to put on a raptor uniform(#1 is Tracy McGrady). regardless of what happens, the raptors have a lot of rebuilding to do.

Yes, this trade was clearly made to rebuild, its not to make us a contender. The cap room will eventually give us the opportunity to be a contender, and as for the draft picks, lets hope we get good picks and if we do, that we dont blow the pics.
I know how it is to be injured and playing ball, i fractured my elbow which caused my ball playing to be very limited. Its tough but it should make you stronger and more of a team player IMO, not saying stupid stuff then taking it back, such as when he said hes not gonna dunk no more... i was like WTF, grow up, that was in my opinion, and i stress that cuz i dont feel like having a debate here, but i feel that was one of his many outcries for attention... he just wanted to be heard and wanted to cause sh|t cuz things werent going right and he didnt know how to deal with it... surprise surprise...
I, for one, am very glad hes finally gone!

Its ABOUT DAM TIME HE LEFT!!... dont get me wrong, i was a huge VC fan back in the days when actually cared for the team and played with passion.
The last two seasons i felt VC cheated us of playing time. He got injured, i understand, but IMO he used that as an excuse to play less and put up low numbers, just so that he does get traded. I wouldnt be surprised when he's in NJ, his knee instantly heals, and is dunking left and right, pulling triple double figures every game. He lost dirve and passion to play for Toronto, so i for one am glad he left.
As for our current team, not including the NJ players we'll get cause they're no use to us, I still think we have a chance at the playoffs. The east is weak, if we keep a fast up tempo perimeter game, and our backcourty players actually make shots, then we'll be fine. Lets just all play we get High draft picks and the draft pool is loaded with a few lebron james and carmellos.

Just to let everyone know... what we spent on jalen/vince last season is MORE then what the pistons starting 5 earned...
Did you hear how, three super sonic players claim Vince Carter tried to sabotage the team by telling the sonic players their last minute plays during the raptor vs sonics game.
Ya'll think its true?
I personally wouldnt be surprised if it were true.

Damn I just heard about the attempted sabotage by vince but didnt get the three players, i dont think they said who
wow, wonder how all Vince fans will feel if this proves to be true

I heard about it on TSN, and I dont know which three players, does it really matter, the fact is Vince Carter prolly sold us Raptor Fans out. Just so he can get his a$$ traded. I was a huge VC fan way back, but now i lost all respect for him, if it proves to be true.
Ahh well maybe this is Bonner's year to break out into a superstar
the "white rocket" ... thats a good one.

straight up busta.... he's a sellout.... it'll be hard for ppl in NJ to trust him....
i'm wishing for the worst for him.... haha.... i hope he busts his knees again in NJ.... and then the Nets go straight to the bottom of the standings.... then J. Kidd gets traded.

Don't worry there aren't very many left, and if there are, they must be
As for him playing for NJ, most likely he'll be good as new, putting up amazing numbers. I may sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I believe he's been setting up for a trade for a long time, always getting hurt, putting up low numbers, and generally just no motivation to play.

I heard about the aligations where people/media are saying that Vince sold out his own team... but why bring it up now? Do you guys know this **** happend in November? I think it's bullsh!t... why bring up something from so long ago that has no significance anymore?
As for VC getting traded... I say good. I was also a VC fan but the last two seasons he has been playing like complete garbage. The guy is 26 years old, he should be at his athletic peak! Injuries shouldn't be so pronounced... tough it out... why the hell is he getting hurt so much!
Now I don't hate the guy and he will always be a great player, but like some of you said, he completely lost his drive to play here in Toronto. He didn't care to be here and the money has gotten to his head. He said in an interview that basketball to them is a business... ****, once an athlete gets to that level... he stops caring.
The game shouldn't be a business... it should be for the love of the sport. That's why college ball is awesome.
