Well, first off, welcome to 7thgencivic.com!
Insurance rates depend on your age, marital status, driving record, whether or not you're gonna be primary driver under insurance, and the color of the car. I may be missing a few things but those are the main ones i believe.
You'll get some ranging answers here so ya may wanna mention some of your answers to the questions above so you can easily find someone in the same boat and know what to expect.

17 and primary driver is BAAD news bro! Actually anything under 25 and primary is not a good idea (i think 25 is the magic age).Try to get your mom or dad as primary, it'll save you a whole lot
Red & Black= higher insurance
EDIT: I take it you dont have your G, just a G2 right? Well if so, get your G ASAP dont wait, cuz thatll save you money as well.

Your gonna have a lot of trouble getting insurance on your own for starters. No independant broker will sell it to you and it will be like finding a pin in a hay stack for the big insurers to insure you also because they require/want 5 years driving experience with a clean record. So the only way your gonna get insurance is with your parents included on the premium.
Your looking at roughly 6-10g, to say 4-6g is an understatement if your primary. If your secondary maybe another 3-5g. This is for Toronto, I'm not sure where you live so it all depends. I'm paying 300 a month full coverage, 1M, 1000 collision, 500 comp for mine and I'm 21.
SiG, bro color does not cost more for insurance. That is the biggest car insurance myth ever. If you get a quote or buy insurance they will not give you a different price if you said it was grey then say its actually black. Also there supposely once was a magic age of 25 that everyone talks about but it is not true either, another myth. It's actually 6yrs with a clean record to get lower insurance cost. Doesn't make sense if someone got their license at 23 and get lower insurance 2 years later compared to someone who got theirs at 16 right?

Actually, the color thing is not a myth
I was gonna get my car in black if they were the same price for insurance but black was more then blue, so i opted for blue. Besides, black was too common in 7thgens from what I had seen, so it worked out for the best. Maybe it varies from one company to another, but i know for a fact that mine was gonna charge me more for black or red as opposed to blue/silver.

Not true man.... alot of people can get insured with out 5yrs driving experience, well at least all the friends i know can. If the rule u said applys then there would be alot less people driving on the road.

I'm 21 - G2 for a few years (too lazy to get G), clean driving record (doesn't lower price), under parent's plan. ING.
I think my total recently jumped to about 3000. I think my girlfriend is paying about 1200... Her brother got his G as soon as possible and is probably paying about 2500. But they're under a different company which had better rates... (I don't understand why my dad doesn't want to change companies...)
Car type and colour definitely affect insurance costs. I think these specific charges are pretty transparent though (they'll review your application and automatically raise prices based on colour number of doors, etc). It's all based on actuarial studies, and they're pretty picky about all the variable factors.
Age is definitely important - at least the companies like to emphasize that rates will be high until 24 or 25.
A few tips: Be sure to take a certified driver training course. Go under your parents' plan as an occasional driver instead of as a primary driver. And if you live away from home, change your liscence address and you can claim to be an out-of-house occasional driver.

Number of doors, colour, horsepower, general desirability, whether there is a stock alarm/immobilizer, how many drivers live with you, where you live, how far you will be driving it monthly, your age, your sex, ticket/claim history, type of license held (G or G2), any interruptions in your insurance coverage (ie suspensions), whether or not you still live with your parents, all count towards your premiums. Unfortunately nowadays it's really hard to get a decent insurance rate if you are indeed under 25. It's not impossible to get insurance, you just might have to grab your ankles and take it like a woman, cause the insurance industry is a huge ripoof and they will use any excuse to take your money. I hate them all and hope each and every insurance company that provides automotive coverage disintegrates into black dust. Call it an act of god and cut their coverage.
I'm paying 180 a month, perfect driving record for 7 years (no claims or tickets), 26 years old, primary and sole driver of my car.

BTW I'm with Meloche Monnex, they cut me a break and put me on a group plan cause I'm an alumnus of an accredited university. As far as I understand if you're a student or alum of an accredited uni, or even a couple of colleges, you can take advantage. I saved $20 a month by moving (screw you Allstate insurance).
From my sources, it doesn't matter.....
But, think of it this way.... It may ultimately depend on the kind of car that you drive...
Go to www.bmw.ca, and you'll find that there are only 3 stock colours which come with the base price. Any other nice colours, and you have to tack on like $1000, just for a BASE colour! Yup... A BMW 3 series only comes in black, red, or white. Any other colour, and you have to shell out.
So, it could be based on the kind of car... Civics don't have extra costs associated with any of their stock colours, so maybe for Civics it's ok.
Alternatively, it could be related to your insurance company, where they just lop everyone into the pool, whether your stock paint costs more or not, and average things out.......................

On a separate note, go to online insurance quote sites like www.kanetix.com, and shove in various combinations, it should give you an idea of ballpark figures that you'll have to pay.
In the end, when and if you can afford insurance, try PC Financial. I hear alot of people with clean records get awesome deals with them....

Regardless of what everyone here says, in THEORY, as per the AGREEMENT that you signed, yes you do have to let your insurer know of a turbo.
Any modifications that you make to your car that is not stock, must be ok'd by your insurer... So, in theory, you should call them to tell them that you just did "significant" modifications by adding an APC sticker to your bumper
As per the agreements, should there be anything on there that they are not aware of, they are not obligated to pay for it should it be damaged/lost due to theft, accident, negligence, etc....
If say, assuming you installed a turbo without notifying your insurer, and you get into an accident, they have the right to totally drop you, and pay you NOTHING. Not even health benefits. That's if they find out about the turbo, and deem the turbo (and note, they can blame a flat tire on a turbo) to be the source or contributing factor.
