suspected thief
hey guys
alright so friday september 10, 2 weeks ago this friday, my moms bmw 325 Xi was broken into in our own driveway between 2AM and 7AM. The thief broke the passenger side window in the front, took my moms portfolio with some store cards (business depot, office place, etc. nothing like a visa/amex,etc). He also stole her keys, not car keys but her keys she keeps in the car for the mailbox, work, and house. So we changed our locks and cancelled all the cards, case closed...
So last night, 3AM, something inside me is saying "go check on your car." so i look out the window, and theres a guy in a white old, prolly 88 accord 4 door sitting in front of my house. as soon as he sees the blind move and sees a face, he jets and drives down the street, to near the end. so i grab my keys and go for a ride, wanting to see whats up with this fool... if hes the paperboys dad, if hes looking for his lost cat, or if hes planning another break-in to a car...
So he sees im driving down the street and starts driving away from where he parked down the street. this guy goes from highway 7 and leslie to PAST highway 7 and yonge. i got his plates and left it. he kept driving to God knows where.
But what puzzled me is, if he had innocent intentions, why would he have bounced and never stopped at anyone elses house again, and went from looking at houses around my area to abruptly leaving like he did. just imagine at 3AM this happens to you, would you be REALLY suspicious of this guy?
Anyways, i got his plate. is it possible to find out who owns the car now? He was a brown guy from the looks of it when i pulled up next to him on highway 7.
and of course when i get home my dad starts with the "what if he had a gun, dont follow ppl like that" but i was like "dad this guy isnt gonna shoot at me after i have his car make, yr and plates." but thats how dads are.
Sorry its long! feedback/suggestions/help welcome!

Well, the police would likely not be very helpful unless they had more proof of someone driving this car causing you problems. Simply hanging around outside your house ONCE would likely not arouse their suspicion. Keep an eye out for him again, and if he should show up once more, call the polizia on him and just say "I think there's someone stalking my mom"....I figure the cops will be more receptive to someone bothering a woman than some "ricer" car owner, you know how it is. Good luck man, and if you catch this guy I want piece.

nitehawk- lol yeah i guess it was pretty ballzy, but hey, this ****er has what he beleives is our keys to our house (they are keys to our old locks)!
i dont want him breaking into the garage to try to get into the house, knaw mean... cuz when he sees the keys dont work, he may go nuts and screw with the other cars... and my civic is the cheapest car we have so if he screws with anything else, it'll cost a lot to fix
Telly- yeah thats true. But hey they dunno im just a kid ricer... hey screw you i aint a ricer lol
imma call you when i find this guy though! anyone else want in?!
So the constable called my mom the other day cuz we had called the cops after it happened and they didnt give a ****... they were like "we dont deal with that kinda stuff". so the constable called to get a report, and i hafta call him back tomorrow and let him know what happened last night. im expecting the "kid, let the cops deal with catching the robbers" talk, but i got his plate so i did do sthg productive!

get a pinhole camera..... doesnt even have to be a pinhole camera, just a camera system......
i've got one, but yet to hook it up... doesnt seem like my car would get damaged in my area... but better safe then never.

SiG, if you're really gung-ho about finding this guy, try taking his licence plate # to a lisencing kiosk and typing it in. I think you can get a crapload of info that way...I saw it on TV; that's how sophisticated car thieves do it. I think you can get name, address, etc...
Whatever you do, good luck...
Boy_R_D: That sucks dude, good luck finding those bastards too. You file a police report?

did you install your ICE yourself? Cuz if so, id look around your area for the thieves, cuz someone must have seen you installing stuff and decided to jack you. Realistically, what are the chances that the day its installed it gets jacked too. Hope things work out for ya tho man

If you want to pin this guy to the plates, you can go to the Ontario MTO and request a "Used Vehicle Identification Package" of some sort, for $20. There's information online at mto.gov.on.ca or whatever their website is.
However, note that should you decide to mess with this guy, etc, it could go back to you, because you have to pay by CC. (The thieves do this by using a stolen CC)
The package is used as an info pack for selling a car personally....
As for pin hole cameras and stuff, there's a whole bunch out there. TAke a look at www.x10.com just to get an idea.
My freaking neighbour has modded up his house to the **** with high tech equipment, he's a lawyer for the Ont. Gov, some govt prosecutor.... blaring 300w motion lights everywhere, LASER-GUIDED TRIPS (2 feet above the ground so his stupid cats won't trip them), night vision cameras, 24 hr live monitoring from Queen's Park, dead bolts with fire-proof doors, all windows on 1st and 2nd level floors with metal bars. WHAT THE HELL?
