Imported Turbo In Canada!

So it looks like I will be moving to Ontario (From Texas) to go to Lakehead University very soon.

I just bought a SF turbo kit, and I need to know if I should install my turbo kit before crossing the boarder, or after. I can get it properly tuned here in Texas, but I might have a problem finding a good place in Thunder Bay!

It is a Canadian car, 2001 SI. Will I have problems getting it across of I do, and if I do not, should I hide the new turbo kit somewhere in my moving van, or can I declare it & pay some fees?

Is it illegal to have a turbo 01 vic in Ontario? Will problems arise if I go to get it liscensed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

if you turbo it before you come here, you might have problems getting it insured....

i agree with big... it isnt illegal to have a turbo vic in canada...but if ur insurance company finds out about it... it will be a hassle to get it insured and if u do...premiums will be high... i dunno bout texas, but in ontario insurance company's charge an arm and a leg... i would bring it over... you may be able to hide it (how you would do that i have no idea) but you most likely will have **** looked at by customs cause you will be tranporting a lot of stuff. So to prevent any hassles, i would just declare it, say your bringin it as a gift for a friend or family member if you can that way you wouldnt have to pay any fees on it i dont think.

My insurance in Texas says it will be no extra charge if I install the turbo, but I don't know about Canada?

I have all 5 gauges installed, with an e-manage, and a profec e01 boost controller screen on my dash already, so if I say it is a gift they might get suspicious. I thought of pulling it off, but there would still be a big mark on my dash of where it was! And I can't just take out the e-manage, it is fully spliced into my ECU by like 15 wires or so, along with a turbo timer, and a APEXi Rev/Speed Meter!

How much customs fees will I have to pay on a $3400 turbo kit?

Does anybody know if I need any stupid paperwork to get this car through customs either?

Just put it in a hockey bag... They wont know! If you want to get it tuned do it down here cause it's pointless to do it down in texas. I know a guy that can tune it for you in Toronto... He tuned mine, I also had an emanage and the profec-E01 boost controller...

Will they confisgate it if I hide it & they find it?

I have 5 Gauges, 3 in a pillar & 2 Dash ones!

Do you have a turbo 7thGen in Toronto now, with an e-manage tuned?

If you already have the turbo what does it matter about bringing it over the border. Once you own it in the states and move to Canada it doesnt matter. Its the same as you bringing your couch or chair when you move.

But the insurance for sure will be a problem.
